LOOKING AT THIS YEAR'S KING OF THE RING COMPETITORS AND PREDICTING THE WINNER

By Tom Springer on 11/24/2010 1:03 PM

I wanted to take a quick moment to analyze the fnal competitors in the King of the Ring.  I want to commend WWE for putting the talent that they have in this list.  This should be for the class right below the World Heavyweight/WWE titles and above the Intercontinental/US titles.  I feel they have accomplished this.

I will list below each of the competitors and what I think of their chances.

Alberto Del Rio - An obvious choice.  WWE has already built him up as coming from a lineage of royalty.  He already wears gold.  Maybe a little too obvious.  To me, his current character does not need the bump of the King title.

Cody Rhodes - "King" Dashing Cody Rhodes.  Doesn't quite roll off the tongue.  Where they are still rolling with the Dashing gimmick I cannot see this happening.  However, WWE is better off putting a heel into the King role to show arrogance and this would fit in with Cody's character.

Daniel Bryan - No, not going to happen.  He is already the U.S. champion and in a feud with Ted Dibiase.  He does not need the crown and it makes no sense for his development.

Drew McIntyre - This would be my choice.  With his personal issues behind him, maybe WWE will feel the time is right to start repushing him and repackaging him.  He already displays the arrogance and the pompus nature of royalty.  Infact he reminds me more of HHH in the early days then Sheamus (as HHH would compare to himself).

Ezekiel Jackson - The darkhorse here.  If they are going to give it to a face, I would see Zeke or Kofi.  Zeke is in a push phase and is a monster.  WWE sees big things in this man.  I think it may be early to strap a title on him where is is just doing squashes now.

John Morrison - Embroiled in one of the better developing feuds with Sheamus.  I say keep both of them out of this.  Likely to bracket agaisnt each other initially and have a double dq so there is a bye for Daniel Bryan/Big Zeke winner.

Kofi Kingston - Only way I want to see this happen is if it leads to a heel turn for Kofi.  He has become stale to me on the Blue brand and has shown he has some fire in him.  A heel turn would not be completely out of the question and welcome in my regard.

Sheamus - See John Morrison

Final Predictions (likelyhood)

  1. Drew McIntyre
  2. Alberto Del Rio
  3. Kofi Kingston
  4. Ezekiel Jackson
  5. Cody Rhodes
  6. Sheamus
  7. John Morrison
  8. Daniel Bryan
