CHIKARA SEASON 9 FINALE PREVIEW

By Joshua Higham on 12/3/2010 6:22 PM

Chikara presents Season 9 Finale “Reality is Relative”
December 12, 2010 at the Goodwill Fire Association Hall in Reading, PA. Belltime is 4:00 PM

The last event of 2011 promises something big. Last year, the BDK revealed themselves at the Season Finale. Could we have new Campeones de Parejas? Could Ultramantis Black have a new adversary revealed? All of the matches have been announced, but surely, there’s a surprise or two to be revealed.

Campeonatos de Parejas Match - Two out of Three Falls
Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw vs. Ares and Claudio Castagnoli

The team of QuackSaw ran the table in Philadelphia, getting their three points in one match. Quackenbush had previously guaranteed that whenever he challenges for the belts, he will win them. Ares and Castagnoli have been dominant as champions, using rule-bending tactics and Delirious attacking before the bell to get quick one-fall advantages. Quackenbush and Jigsaw have a huge task in front of them and the honor of Chikara on their minds.

Eddie Kingston vs. Tursas

Eddie Kingston became the first man to knock Tursas off his feet and pin his shoulders to the mat at The Dark Ciberknetico. Tursas defeated and dominated Kingston back in February. 2010 has been Kingston’s year since then, winning the Cibernetico and facing Bryan Danielson, Chris Daniels, Tommy Dreamer, and Homicide at the same time as going through the ranks of the BDK to get his hands on Castagnoli.

Hallowicked vs. Ultramantis Black

These two represent the first class of graduates of the Chikara Wrestle Factory. They have a long and storied past going through the entire history of Chikara. They’ve been tag partners in the Dark Breed, they’ve been bitter rivals as the Order of the Neo Solar Temple battled Incoherence, they’ve been reluctant partners at The Dark Ciberknetico because Quackenbush intervened. Ultramantis defeated Hallowicked at the Brooklyn debut, but his head might not be on straight after his Falls Count Anywhere match in Philadelphia.

Vin Gerard vs. Colin Delaney Olsen

When Colin Delaney Olsen returned from the Land of the Extreme, he was randomly paired with Vin Gerard as a team, which led to the formation of the Unstable. Two years later, Olsen turned on his stablemates to put the tassels back on, play the pop music, and rejoin his brother. The Olsens and Unstable have traded wins in tag action in recent months. This may not be a rubber match or the end of this feud, but a win will be huge for either competitor.

Jimmy Olsen vs. Tim Donst

Tim Donst promises he’s the best Young Lions Cup holder ever. So he’ll go up against any of the other previous champions to prove it. Since making Player Dos tap to win the Cup in January, he’s pinned Fire Ant, Stigma, and Arik Cannon; choked out Hallowicked and Frightmare; and made Jigsaw tap. Jimmy Olsen is next. The former Equinox’s resume is nothing to scoff at: along with being a former Cup holder, he has won the Cibernetico in 2008 and the only Ladder Match in Chikara history.

The Throwbacks (Sugar Dunkerton and Dasher Hatfield) vs. The Roughnecks (Brodie Lee and Grizzly Redwood)

Dasher Hatfield shocked the crowd in Easton in October when he defeated Brodie Lee. The next night in Connecticut, Grizzly Redwood shocked the crowd with a win over Dasher. And more shock came when Brodie Lee and Grizzly Redwood reunited the Roughnecks. The Throwbacks have had a whirlwind years with international tours, and now, they have a bone to pick with the Roughnecks since being attacked in Philadelphia. Both teams could use a win and the momentum going into 2011.

Daizee Haze and Sara Del Rey vs. The Colony (Fire Ant and Soldier Ant)

Haze and Del Rey have been impressive this year. They were one of the handful of teams that won the three points, but instead of challenging, they were charged with continuing to be roadblocks for other teams. In Philadelphia, they stood between Quackenbush and Jigsaw and their three points, and they failed. Quack and Jig will challenge for the titles, and Haze and Del Rey return to 0. In front of them is The Colony in their first action together since July. Fire Ant has returned from his facial injury, and the Colony should want to get their three points.

The Osirian Portal vs. Lince Dorado and Pink Ant

Lince Dorado and Pink Ant have quietly held onto two points since June. But both have had issues recently: Lince, in Philadelphia last month, finally broke a losing streak dating back to the finals of the Young Lions Cup. Pink Ant was the first eliminated at The Dark Ciberknetico and took the fall in the atomicos match versus Da Soul Touchaz and Sugar Dunkerton. The Osirian Portal are at zero after an unsuccessful November since challenging for the Campeonatos de Parejas. The Portal probably doesn’t want to head into 2011 with three straight losses.
