Showtime All-Star Wrestling
Airing November 28, 2010 on The America One Network
Taped October 24, 2010 at the Stadium Inn in Nashville, TN

Michael Graham was all by his lonesome again this week. He hyped the return of Hammerjack and an intriguing situation regarding Jesse Emerson, and said we would hear from deposed SAW Champion Chase Stevens.

1 – HAMMERJACK vs. CASEY KAGE

Kage blew off the lock up and came out firing. Hammer retaliated. Kage backed off.  In a unusual display of wrestling skill, Hammer took Kage down and worked a grounded armbar. Kage made the ropes, Kage sleazily dumped Hammerjack out of the ring and poured it on for several minutes. Graham suggested Hammer was showing ring rust. Kage scored a bunch of near falls. Hammer twice grabbed the ropes to avoid being pinned. At one point, Kage blocked Hammer’s signature cross-arms Iconoclasm and flew off the ropes with a shot to the temple. After hitting a sidewalk slam, Hammer dropped to his knees and clutched his head before covering. Hammer telegraphed a backdrop bigtime. Kage capitalized with a swinging neckbreaker for two. Hammer answered with a Michinoku Driver. Kage pulled out a chain, but Hammer was one step ahead, and it was Sayonara with the Hammer Jammer (same reverse DDT elbow drive that Wolfie D uses).

WINNER: Hammerjack with the Hammer Jammer in 7:15.

Jason James was in the locker room with Hammerjack, who said it was his first time back since the “I Quit Match” with Marc Anthony. Hammer said he was moving on to bigger and better things, namely the SAW Title held by Phil Shatter. Hammer said he would do whatever to get the belt and nothing was going to get in his way.

Cut to comments from Stevens. He was the picture of dejection. His face was obscured by the hoodie covering his head and he was looking down at the floor. Stevens said his schedule wasn’t a factor in losing the title. “Being Chase is a lifestyle,” he said. Stevens said there was lot that goes with being the champion, the media interviews, the aggressive schedule, and he did his best to uphold the title. “Being the champion, that is a lifestyle.” Stevens said that unlike some other so called champions, he defended the title night and night out and always gave 110%.

“Certain people said I was spread to thin. Certain people said I had too much on my plate. Certain people said my lifestyle caught up with me. Those people say Shatter had me completely scouted, that I was unfocused. People think I was too worried about movies and video games and not enough about the wrestling.”

Stevens did a 180, looking straight into the camera, shot full of resolve.

“I am focused on being SAW heavyweight champion. Phil Shatter, I will get my rematch. I will train harder, wrestle longer, and when our rematch comes, Shatter, this will not be the outcome. I will walk out of there with my title around my waist. I will be the SAW Heavyweight Champion once again.”

It’s Coming - Saturday, December 11 at Morton’s Auction House in Columbia, TN – THE FIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

Graham hyped the press SAW got in Inside Wrestling – The one with Miz on the cover. Check out page 10.  Cut to footage from “The Lost Episodes” that showed Emerson joining forces with A-Team and the introduction of the incredibly tall and sexy Italian mystery woman, who was having a wardrobe malfunction.

2 – JESSE EMERSON (with Paul Adams & Tall Dark Mystery Woman) vs. BLAINE DEVINE

Grahams said he was surprised and disappointed by Emerson, who was in the midst of his first display of lawyerly arrogance. Graham said Emerson was an All-American boy and a Cubs fan for God’s sake. Meanwhile, Santel was getting chummy with the new valet. Devine rallied. Emerson countered Devine’s high crossbody with a fallaway slam. Emerson hit a double underhook suplex for a two count, then a trapped arms overhead suplex for another. When Devine showed life, Emerson raked his eyes. After decking Emerson with an iffy missile dropkick, Devine hit a top rope crossbody for his big near fall. Emerson reversed Devine with his usual finisher, the Alabama Slam, Devine was toast but no cover. Instead, Emerson applied a hammerlock/elevated leglace and Devine tapped.

WINNER: Emerson via submission in 5 minutes.

Graham plugged the weekly SAW/RTW shows in Columbia on Friday and Pulaski on Saturday featuring Tracy Taylor,

Graham pitched to Jason James at ringside with A-Team. “I remember when you started wrestling. As a wrestler, you make a heck of an announcer,” said Adams. He introduced Emerson as his new legal counsel. Adams said he was still awaiting trial on the prostitution charges stemming from that hilarious incident outside the Stadium Inn. Adams mentioned that SAW’s big sponsor, Grumpy’s was responsible for getting him out of jail. Then, there was the matter of Santel’s lawsuit against SAW for unsafe work conditions. Adams had to interrupt Santel’s extracurricular activities with the lady. Santel said on the advice of legal counsel, he was going to decline Flash Flanagan’s request for a hardcore match. “Don’t get me wrong. I was extremely excited about that match…I would have murdered him.” Santel said when A-Team was done with SAW, he would own the place. He threatened to change the name to OMG wrestling. Santel went back to putting the moves on the girl. Emerson said his finishing move was called the Tort
Feaser. He said that in French, tort meant “to contort’ or twist”, and that’s what he did to that boy. Emerson promised no more legal problems for A-Team. “Remember J is for justice and J is for Jesse.” Adams told Emerson he was in for a new treat because A-Team was headed to Red Lobster. Santel wouldn’t budge. He couldn’t get enough of the girl.

Reno Riggins interviewed alleged country singer Dyanna Dawnn. Dawnn said her daughter was once engaged to Chris Von Erich. “We just loved them to death.” Talk about a horrible choice of words. Any time the Von Erich name comes up, my brain gets stuck on the catastrophic depth of despair and grief that family has endured. Dawnn caught SAW at her home in Tyler, Texas and it made her such a big fan that she was paying SAW a visit, or so the story goes. Reno said SAW hoped to further Dawnn’s musical career, a hopeless cause if there ever was one. The clip of her singing was along the lines of really bad karaoke.

3 – JOHNNY BANDANNA (with Drew Haskins & Sista O’Feelyah) vs  JP MAGNUM

Graham noted Haskins’ “German discotheque look”. Graham said Derrick King had to be on hand next week because the 30 day time limit on title defenses was almost up. Magnum got the bes of an old school test of strength spot. Bandanna did a few reps with Haskins’ exercise apparatus to pump himself up. Things unraveled quickly though. Magnum gave Haskins and Bandana a meeting of the minds. Bandanna capitalized on a miss charge into the corner. Coming out the commercial break, Bandanna had a rear chin lock sunk in deep. Bandanna tried to submit Magnum with a bridging version. Magnum’s arm almost went down for the 3rd time. It worked in to get the crowd going. They did another test of strength. Not nearly as pretty as the first one. Magnum hit the AA spinebuster and Bandanna was in DEEP trouble. Magnum went up top. Haskins jumped up to distract the ref. O;Feelyah sprayed Magnum in the face, and he was a sitting duck for Bandanna’s draping DDT.

WINNER: Bandanna in 8:30 after O’Feelyah sprayed Magnum with a face full of something. .

Afterthoughts: This was another taping born out of necessity due to the “lost (as in stolen) episodes. They tried running Stadium Inn on Sunday of the Titans bye week. Not a bad idea in theory, but the show didn’t draw and consequently lacked for good heat. The matches bordered on filler. The supposed main event featured two guys without a TV win between them. And the finish was the standard DKE distraction stuff. The interviews provided more interesting content. Stevens registered the impact of losing the title. He took responsibility for failing in the ring, but denied failure to live up to his responsibilities as the champion. The key was getting across the core of steel at the end. Stevens introverted, understated way of expressing himself works for me. Kind of a small town Midwest thing…The A-Team stuff was a great way to intro the new Emerson. The logic behind the character is exquisite. The fact that he’s a textbook wrestler makes the cheating all the more outrageous. You can just feel how much Emerson is relishing this role – the chance to show his true colors as a lawyer. The Tort Feaser. I love it…Graham really played up the ring rust story with Hammerjack. It was a good idea, because an unknown guy got like five near falls on him. First time I had seen Kage in a number of years. He’s gotten a lot better than I remember him being...Here’s a shout out to one of my the illustrious partners on “Phoning It In” (Mondays 8pm at www.blogtalkradio.com/psp), Trent Van Drisse, He who has often criticized SAW for lack of attention to detail. Check out Adams referencing the arrest incident (from months ago) and plugging the key sponsor, all in the same breath…The quality of the work in main was fine. They got the crowd into it better than the other matches. Bandanna’s neck bridge rivals the best of them….I have to wonder if the Dyanna Dawnn segment was a rib. It was that bad.
