By David Tees on 1/8/2011 12:47 AM
Fight #1

Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Rhadi Ferguson (2-0-0) vs. John Richard (3-1-0)

Referee: Al Whickers

Round One

John Richard did the smart thing quickly in this fight but putting it on the ground, Richard is doing a great job considering he took the fight on a weeks notice. Rhadi Ferguson uses a good scramble to get Richard off of his back, Ferguson looks like a beast when he is pounding his opponent on the mat. Richard kept spitting out his mouthpiece and the referee deducted a point from him, it seems that Richard gassed out in the middle of the round.

My Scorecard: Rhadi Ferguson - 10/John Richard - 8

Round Two

John Richard started off the round by nailing Rhadi Ferguson with a Rhino like spear, Ferguson then catches Richard with a knee bar and a tap out follows.

Result: Rhadi Ferguson def. John Richard by submission via knee bar (2:00, R2)

Fight #2

Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight Division Fight

Amanda Nunes (5-1-0) vs. Julia Budd (1-0-0)

Fight #3

Strikeforce Heavyweight Division Fight

Devin Cole (18-8-1) vs. Daniel Cormier (6-0-0)

Referee: Greg Franklin

Round One

Devin Cole is fighting smart early on by keeping Daniel Cormier far away from him, that did not last long as Cormier got a hold of Cole. Cornier took Cole down quickly with a belly to belly suplex, Cole got back up and Cormier quickly got back on him. Cormier shows how those short strikes in the clinch can wear down an opponent, Cormier is attacking Cole with an overhand right and head kick. Cormier did the smart thing by putting the fight on the ground as the round ended.

Scorecard: Daniel Cormier - 10/Devin Cole - 9

Round Two

Daniel Cormier quickly got the fight to the ground by simply tossing Devin Cole down, Cormier smartly used ground and pound to get full mount. Cole showed his veteran experience by using the fence to escape the full mount, but Cormier is still got a dangerous side control position. Fight #4

Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Division Fight

Ron Humphrey (7-2-0) vs. Ovince St. Preux (7-2-0)

Referee: Al Whickers

Round One

Ovince St. Preux took all but a few seconds to tag Ron Humphrey, OSP then quickly put the striker quickly on the ground. This is the third Strikeforce fight in seven fights for OSP, OSP is using good ground and pound on Humphrey. OSP got reversed by Humphrey on the ground and he nearly caught him in a triangle choke, Humphrey showed some ground skills by trying to knee bar OSP. OSP finally got his full mount position on Humphrey and he is dominating him with ground and pound, Humphrey escaped and arm triangle attempt and OSP got full mount again as the round ended.

Scorecard: Ovince St. Preux - 10/Ron Humphrey - 9

Round Two

Ron Humphrey tried to put the fight on the ground and Ovince St. Preux was happy to oblige, the referee oddly stands up the fight to quickly in my opinion. These two fighters decided to go insane and each destroyed the other with punches and knee strikes, OSP got the fight back on the ground. The referee decides to stand up the fighters once again, Humphrey then dropped OSP with some strikes and stupidly put the fight on the ground as the round ends.

Scorecard: Ovince St. Preux - 20/Ron Humphrey - 18

Round Three

Ron Humphrey again shows a lack of intelligence by putting Ovince St. Preux on the ground, the referee ends the boredom by standing the fighters. Humphrey locked in a nice guillotine choke on OSP, but OSP tries to escape by smothering Humphrey on the cage wall and succeeds. The referee stands up the fighters for the fourth time in this fight, Humphrey trips on a kick attempt and OSP gets on top of him and the round ends.

Scorecard: Ovince St. Preux - 29/Ron Humphrey - 28
