STRIKEFORCE: DIAZ VS. CYBORG SHERDOG.COM CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 1/27/2011 7:26 PM
If the UFC is willing to put a portion of their preliminary card on Facebook.com, then Strikeforce is countering by airing a portion of their preliminary card on the Sherdog.com site. The bouts n this card will feature some female battlers and Strikeforce veterans like Eric Lawson and Nate Coy. For those interested in watching the fights on Sherdog.com, they will begin at 8:15pm EST on Saturday Night.

The streaming card will kick off with a women’s lightweight division fight as Jenna Castillo (0-0-0) takes on Charlene “Princess” Gellner (0-0-0). Although both women are making their professional MMA debuts, they both train with top notch camps in both the Fairtex Gym and Bay Area Fight Academy respectively. Like I mentioned earlier, both fighters are going to be making their professional debuts, but Charlene Gellner is better trained on the ground and that will win her the fight.

A pair of welterweights will step into the cage next as Lucas Gamaza (4-1-0) will face off with James Terry (8-2-0). Lucas Gamaza hasn’t competed in an MMA fight in well over a year, but does have experience in the Elite XC promotion. James Terry has had a successful run in Strikeforce, winning three of four fights thus far in the promotion. This fight could become a decision-fest because both fighters have combined for ten decision victories, but James Terry will be the winner here.

Another pair of women will fight next as Germaine “The Iron Lady” De Randamie (1-1-0) faces Stephanie Webber (1-1-0). Germaine De Randamie recently earned the first professional MMA victory of her career when she defeated Nikohl Johnson at a Playboy Fight Night event. Stephanie Webber has fought both of her MMA fights in the Cage Sport promotion and this will be her first fight outside of the promotion. Stephanie Webber is the superior fighter on the ground and that will help her net a submission victory over Germaine De Randamie.

Up next on the card is a middleweight fight as Ron Keslar (5-3-0) will stand across the cage from Eric Lawson (9-3-0). Ron Keslar has fought twice thus far in the Strikeforce promotion, suffering defeats in both of those encounters. Eric Lawson is on the verge of becoming a major player in the Strikeforce promotion, winning four of five in the promotion. Both fighters are well versed in the ground game, but Eric Lawson is a little more skilled and that will get him the win.

Lightweights will be going to war next as Isaiah Hill (4-7-0) steps up in competition to face Bobby Stack (8-1-0). Despite the losing record, Isaiah Hill has fought top level competition in MMA like Strikeforce veteran Billy Evangelista. Bobby Stack is another fighter on the verge of a breakthrough and will be entering the fight on a five fight winning streak. This fight is essentially Bobby Stack’s fight to lose, but he will be walking away victorious on Saturday Night.

Headlining this online streaming card is Nathan “Soulforce” Coy (8-3-0) doing battle with Nate Moore (6-2-0). Nathan Coy is coming off an eight month layoff after suffering a razor thin decision loss to Tyron Woodley at Strikeforce Challengers 8. Nate Moore last competed on the very same Strikeforce fight card, suffering a knockout defeat to Tarec Saffiedine. Despite both fighters coming off losses, this fight could very well determine who gets a shot on potential future Strikeforce Challengers cards. This fight features two evenly attributed fighters, but Nathan Coy will walk away with a win in the headliner.
