The welterweights will kick off the evening as Mike Pierce (11-3-0) will be doing battle with Kenny Robertson (10-0-0). Mike Pierce has won three of his four fights in the promotion, with that lone loss coming to perennial contender Jon Fitch. Kenny Robertson is an undefeated fighter who is coming off of a successful run in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Despite the undefeated streak, Kenny Robertson will not have the skills to stop the Mike Pierce ground game.
Up next is a light heavyweight division duel as Kyle Kingsbury (9-2-0) will compete against Ricardo Romero (11-1-0). Kyle Kingsbury has had a successful run in the UFC, including a victory over tough MMA veteran Razak Al-Hassan. Ricardo Romero made a successful UFC debut at UFC 116: Lesnar vs. Carwin, defeating Seth Petruzelli by submission. This fight is going to be a top notch ground fight, with Ricardo Romero getting the duke by getting a tap out from Kyle Kingsbury.
Headlining this preliminary card will be a lightweight contest as Gabe “Godzilla†Ruediger (17-6-0) takes on “Relentless†Paul Taylor (10-6-1). Gabe Ruediger is a TUF alumni, but has yet to get his first UFC victory after two separate attempts. Paul Taylor has mainly had his UFC fights occur in his native United Kingdom, but has lost five of seven in the promotion. This fight is a battle to avoid the unemployment line, which Paul Taylor will do after he hands Gabe Ruediger his third UFC loss.
