The featherweights will kick off the preliminary special as Chad “Money†Mendes (9-0-0) takes on Michihiro Omigawa (12-8-1). Chad Mendes is part of the upstart Team Alpha Male camp and won four straight fights in the WEC promotion. Michihiro Omigawa makes his UFC return after a three year absence, but he has kept busy fighting in the DREAM promotion. Michihiro Omigawa’s return to the UFC is going to be spoiled by the unrelenting ground and pound game of Chad Mendes.
Headlining this Spike TV card will be a lightweight encounter as Paul “Telly’s†Kelly (11-3-0) faces Donald “Cowboy†Cerrone (13-3-0). Paul Kelly is one of the more successful fighters from the UK to compete in the UFC, winning five of eight in the promotion. Donald Cerrone will be making his UFC debut in this fight, most recently defeating Chris Horodecki at the final WEC event. This fight is pretty even on the feet, but Donald Cerrone should edge out the win by taking the fight to the ground.
