CHIKARA NATION: LOOKING AT THE PROMOTION'S RETURN TO EASTON, PA THIS WEEKEND AND MORE

By Josh Higham on 2/15/2011 12:10 PM

Chikara presents “Clutch of Doom” Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Palmer Center in Easton, PA. Belltime is 4 pm.
Coming off the return to Reading and heading towards Williamsport and Brooklyn, Chikara wrestlers will need to pick up steam and momentum towards King of Trios and the creation of a new championship. This event will see debuts and new partnerships and attempts at revenge.

The Colony (Fire Ant and Soldier Ant) vs. The BDK (Claudio Castagnoli and Tursas)

The Colony were half of the atomicos team that defeated a BDK contingent in Philly in January, continuing the slide the BDK has experienced in the past few months. The BDK, however, will have massive size, strength, weight, and power advantage over the former Campeones de Parejas. A win will be huge for the Colony, who are sitting on two points and could be looking to challenge in March.

Jigsaw vs. Tim Donst

Tim Donst’s quest to prove his claim as “the Greatest Young Lions Cup champion ever” goes through the Masked Enigma, Jigsaw. Donst has chalked up a lot of wins over former cupholders, but one-half of the current Campeones de Parejas will be an especially daunting task, considering Jigsaw got the pin on Donst in the atomicos match in January.

The Batiri (Obariyon, Kodama, and Kobald) vs. Ultramantis Black, Hallowicked, and Frightmare

The trios challenge laid out by Ultramantis Black in January has been accepted without Sinn Bodhi’s involvement. Instead, we will get the men trained to be Ultramantis’s Dark Army taking on Incoherence and Ultramantis Black. Obariyon and Kodama has been on fire as a duo and could be the Campeones de Parejas walking into this match. But this is Kobald’s first official match in Chikara, and the trio are still rookies. Ultramantis Black and Hallowicked have a major experience advantage, both being Gen One wrestlers in Chikara, and Frightmare is the current Young Lions Cupholder. This could be a huge weekend for Sinn Bodhi’s Dark Army.

Eddie Kingston vs. Max Boyer.

The War King takes on the Lost Young Lions Cup champion. Max Boyer recently returned from retirement and is certainly looking to return to stardom in Chikara. Kingston is still on his war path to get to Claudio Castagnoli, and Boyer may need to prevent being just another victim in that path.

Four Corner Elimination Match: The Osirian Portal (Amasis and Hieracon) vs. 3.0 vs. BDK (Delirious and Daizee Haze) vs. Los Ice Creams (Ice Cream Jr. and El Hijo Del Ice Cream)

Three points are up in the air in this match. Amasis and Hieracon are a new pair, working as a duo for the first team. Delirious and Daizee Haze have a lot of experience together as a team. 3.0 could have points coming into this match depending on what happens the night before. Can a team run the table and win all three falls to set up a challenge for the Campeonatos?

Madison Eagles vs. Sara Del Rey

The Shimmer Champion seems to be doing an extended stay in America. She succumbed to Daizee Haze’s German Suplex in Philly, and now has to face the other half of the BDK women. Del Rey and Haze wanted competition when they joined the BDK: Madison Eagles is certainly worthy competition.

The Throwbacks vs. The Unstable

The Throwback will be coming off a big night in Reading. Dasher and Sugar are going up against Castagnoli and Brodie Lee, respectively, the night before. The Unstable could have a point from their match the night before. Both teams surely want to get the ball rolling and challenge for the Campeonatos de Parejas. But Vin Gerard has already put his hat into the Championship race, campaigning in a blog on chikarapro.com, so he might have something to prove.

Icarus vs. Ophidian

Icarus took the loss when the new Osirian Portal took on Team FIST in January. Icarus wants to prove that was a fluke, and with the other two members of the Portal in tag action, the reigning Rey de Voladores will take him on. They are fighting for individual pride, and to get a jump in a possible trios war since both groups are already entered into the King of Trios.
