STRIKEFORCE CHALLENGERS 14 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/16/2011 1:03 PM
The highly touted Strikeforce Challengers series returns on Friday Night, featuring a card with a former WEC title challenger and the son of a UFC legend. However, before the action kicks off live on Showtime, there are a few preliminary card fights to take a look at. Strikeforce decided to trim the fat with this events preliminary card, as it will only feature two fights.

The evening will kick off with a featherweight encounter as Drew Pendleton (2-0-0) takes on Dennis Dombrow (2-0-0). Drew Pendleton last competed in the Freestyle Cage Fighting promotion, where he defeated Justin Summers. Dennis Dombrow recently returned to MMA after a two year absence, where he defeated Ray Grindstaff by submission. Despite the long layoff, Dennis Dombrow should keep his undefeated streak alive with a submission victory over his opponent.

Headlining the preliminary card will be a lightweight battle as Ousmane Thomas Diagne (1-2-0) takes on Aaron Lafranco (2-0-0). Ousmane Thomas Diagne is a Cung Le protégé and has fought all three of his professional MMA fights in the Strikeforce promotion. Aaron Lafranco is riding a two fight undefeated streak and most recently defeated Cody Hoffstatter at a South Texas Fighting Championships event. Despite the losing record, Ousmane Thomas Diagne has the tools to defeat Aaron Lafranco by TKO early in the fight.
