UFC 127: PENN VS. FITCH PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/22/2011 7:41 PM
The UFC returns to Australia for the first time since UFC 110 with a main event to determine a top contender to the UFC Welterweight Title. This card is going to be split up in four different directions, as the UFC will be airing the card on pay-per-view, Ion TV, Facebook and even unaired preliminary card fights. There will be plenty of opportunities for fighters to get noticed on Saturday Night, so let’s focus on the unaired preliminary card first.

Kicking off the evening will be a lightweight encounter as Marciej “Irokez” Jewtuszko (8-0-0) takes on Curt “The War” Warburton (6-2-0). Marciej Jewtuszko debuts in the UFC after a one off in the WEC, where he defeated Anthony Njokuani at WEC 50. Curt Warburton lost his lone fight in the UFC, as Spencer Fisher handed him a defeat at UFC 120 by unanimous decision. Marciej Jewtuszko is the much more explosive fighter and that will notch him at TKO victory over Curt Warburton.

Headlining this unaired preliminary card will be a heavyweight battle as Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt (5-7-0) faces off with Chris “The Crowbar” Tuchscherer (21-3-0). Despite the losing record, Mark Hunt has faced top MMA fighters like Wanderlei Silva, Mirko Cro Cop, Josh Barnett and Fedor Emelianenko. Chris Tuchscherer has only won one of three fights in the UFC, with that lone victory being over Canadian fighter Tim Hague. Chris Tuchscherer should have no problem picking up his second UFC victory when he taps out Mark Hunt.
