UFC 127: PENN VS. FITCH ION TV CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/24/2011 8:09 PM
Ion TV is the station that the UFC goes to when Spike TV isn’t available, which is what is going on this Saturday Night. This three fight special will feature one of the top lightweights in the UFC, a UFC Ultimate Fighter champion and a top international fighter. Unlike the Facebook card that airs at 8pm EST., this portion of UFC 127 begins at 9pm EST. on Ion TV.

Kicking off the event will be a middleweight fight as Riki Fukuda (17-4-0) takes on Nick “The Promise” Ring (10-0-0). Riki Fukuda is the current DEEP Middleweight Champion and will be making his official UFC debut in this fight. Nick Ring will also be making his UFC debut, but has also fought in the DEEP promotion with a victory over Ryuichi Murata. Nick Ring’s undefeated streak will be coming to an end on Saturday Night as Riki Fukuda will knockout his foe on route to victory.

Light heavyweights will be doing battle next as Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson (10-1-0) faces James Te Huna (12-4-0). Alexander Gustafsson has won two of three thus far in the UFC and another victory could get him a spot on a pay-per-view card. James Te Huna has won his lone fight in the UFC, a victory over Igor Pokrajac at UFC 110, over a full year ago. Alexander Gustafsson will not being getting that big victory as James Te Huna hands him a knockout defeat.

Headlining the Ion TV card is a key lightweight fight as Spencer “The King” Fisher (24-6-0) takes on Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson (11-4-0). Spencer Fisher is one of the longest tenured fighters in the UFC, as he has competed in the UFC for nearly five years. Ross Pearson is the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 9, where he defeated Andre Winner in the finals. This fight is going to be a slugfest and it is going to be a slugfest that Spencer Fisher will walk away winning.
