By David Tees on 3/11/2011 6:09 PM
With the BFC Welterweight Tournament Semi-Finals set, it is now time to kick off the BFC Lightweight Tournament. This is going to be a top notch tournament that features former WEC Lightweight Champion Rob McCullough and two time tournament finalist Toby Imada. The winner of this tournament will get a BFC Lightweight Title opportunity against Eddie Alvarez.

Headlining this card is a BFC Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinal fight as Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (7-1-0) takes on “Razor” Rob McCullough (19-6-0). After taking a three year break from MMA, Patrick Freire returned with a vengeance in 2010 to win three straight fights. Rob McCullough is a former WEC Lightweight Champion and has won two straight fights in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion. This fight is going to be a slugfest and Rob McCullough will get the win as he is the superior striker of the two.

In the co-main event, Ferrid “Hurricane” Kheder (18-5-0) takes on Toby Imada (28-15-0) in a BFC Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinal attraction. Ferrid Kheder enters this fight riding a five fight winning streak and has even fought UFC veteran Paulo Thiago at a Jungle Fight event. Toby Imada is a two time BFC Lightweight Tournament finalist, losing to Eddie Alvarez and Pat Curran in both finals appearances. This fight should be an entertaining ground battle and Toby Imada will take one step closer to making it to the finals.

Up next is another BFC Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinal encounter as Lloyd “Cupcake” Woodard (10-0-0) takes on Carey Vanier (10-3-0). Lloyd Woodard will be entering the fight riding a ten fight undefeated streak, with most of those victories coming in the Cage Sport promotion. Carey Vanier has won two of three in the Bellator Fighting Championships, with one of those victories coming over UFC veteran Rich Clementi. Carey Vanier is riding a wave of momentum after defeating the UFC veteran and he will keep the momentum by defeating Lloyd Woodard.

Kicking off the evening will be a BFC Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinal battle as Marcin Held (10-1-0) faces Michael Chandler (5-0-0). Marcin Held will be making his North American MMA debut in this fight, but does so riding a two fight winning streak. Michael Chandler is an undefeated fighter who has made appearances in both the Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships promotion. Despite the experience advantage, Marcin Held will fall to a bigger stage experienced Michael Chandler.
