BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 37 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/17/2011 4:33 PM
The Bellator Fighting Championships will be kicking off their featherweight tournament on Saturday Night, but first is the preliminary card. The Bellator Fighting Championships 37 preliminary card will feature a host of both UFC and WEC veterans. One fight in particular between Roli Delgado and Jameel Massouh can potential determine a future tournament participant.

Kicking off the evening is going to be a lightweight encounter as Brandon Shelton (15-5-0) takes on Adam Snook (0-0-0). Brandon Shelton is a well-traveled MMA veteran who has taken on such top fighters as Roli Delgado and Joseph Benavidez. Adam Snook will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and couldn’t have been put in a worse situation. Barring a huge upset here, Brandon Shelton should get on track here by handily defeating newcomer Adam Snook.

A pair of featherweights will be doing battle next as Roli “The Crazy Cuban” Delgado (10-5-1) takes on Jameel “The Sargent” Massouh (25-7-0). Roli Delgado is coming off of a poor run in the UFC, suffering defeats to Andre Winner and Paul Kelly consecutively. Jameel Massouh will be entering this fight riding a four fight winning streak, with one of those victories coming in the BFC. This fight should become an amazing ground battle, but the highly skilled Jameel Massouh will get the victory.

Another set of lightweights will go to war here as Jeremy “Spooner” Spoon (8-0-0) takes on Jerrod Sanders (2-0-0). Jeremy Spoon enters this fight riding an eight fight undefeated streak, with some of those wins coming in the Bricktown Brawl promotion. It has been less than two months since Jerrod Sanders last fought, which was a win over William Joplin at a C3 Fights event. While this should be a close fight, Jeremy Spoon is going to use his ground game to tap out Jerrod Sanders.

Headlining the preliminary card is a middleweight encounter as Jake Rosholt (8-3-0) takes on John “Section 8” Bryant (4-3-0). Jake Rosholt is coming off a terrible run in the UFC, where his lone victory was an upset over Chris Leben at UFC 102. John Bryant has mainly competed in the C3 Fights promotion, where he fought Shark Fights 14 headliner Danillo Villefort. While John Bryant is a game competitor, Jake Rosholt has too much big fight experience to drop one here.
