BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 38 TELEVISED CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/23/2011 11:50 PM
The Bellator Fighting Championships will be starting the road to crowning their first ever BFC Light Heavyweight Champion this Saturday Night. The tournament will be featuring plenty of excellent fighters, including a member of the famous Gracie Family. Remember, due to the UFC event airing at 9pm EST., this event will begin at 7pm EST. right on MTV2.

Headlining this card is a BFC Light Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal fight as Tim Carpenter (6-0-0) takes on Daniel Gracie (5-2-1). Tim Carpenter is currently undefeated in Bellator Fighting Championships competition, having defeated Jamal Patterson at BFC 33. Daniel Gracie is a member of the famous Gracie Family and holds a victory over UFC veteran Wes Sims. Tim Carpenter is a threat on the ground, but I still see him getting submitted by the superior Daniel Gracie.

The co-main event is another BFC Light Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal fight as DJ “Da Protégé” Linderman (8-1-0) takes on Raphael “Noodle” Davis (10-1-0). DJ Linderman enters this fight riding a three fight winning streak and holds a victory over Strikeforce veteran Devin Cole. Raphael Davis has won two fights in the Bellator Fighting Championships, defeating Demetrious Richards and Tony Lopez. Both of these fighters are pretty close in experience, but Raphael Davis is more than capable to force a tap out from his opponent.

Up next is a BFC Light Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal fight as Richard “Rare Breed” Hale (15-3-1) takes on Nik “The Machete” Fekete (4-0-0). Richard Hale is a longtime veteran of the Rage In The Cage promotion, winning thirteen of fifteen in the promotion. While a relative MMA newcomer, Nik Fekete does hold a victory over Strikeforce veteran Ovince St. Preux. This is a fight where inexperience is going to be a huge obstacle and Richard Hale will use his experience edge to win the fight.

Kicking off the event is a BFC Light Heavyweight Tournament Quarterfinal fight as Chris “The Professional” Davis (10-2-0) faces Christian “Tonton” M’Pumbu (15-3-1). Chris Davis enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with his most recent win coming over UFC veteran Francisco Rivera. Christian M’Pumbu will be making his North American MMA debut in this fight, but has competed in the DEEP promotion. This is going to be a battle of two very well rounded fighters, but Christian M’Pumbu has more big fight experience and that will help him get the duke.
