UFC ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT 24 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/24/2011 7:10 PM
The UFC returns to Spike TV with a card with a potential UFC Light Heavyweight Title opportunity on the line and a key welterweight division fight. There will also be five fights streamed on Facebook featuring a pair of important heavyweight division battles. However, the preliminary card will be up to bat first and it features an important middleweight encounter.

The event kicks off with a lightweight division fight as Nik “The Carnie” Lentz (20-3-2) takes on Waylon Lowe (10-3-0). Nik Lentz is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with two key victories over Andre Winner and Tyson Griffin. Waylon Lowe is riding a two fight winning streak into this fight, recently defeating Willamy Freire at UFC Fights For The Troops 2. This fight should be a good clash between good wrestlers, but Nik Lentz is the better wrestler and will earn a fifth UFC victory.

A battle of welterweights will do battle next as Johny Hendricks (9-1-0) will go to war with TJ Waldburger (13-5-0). Johny Hendricks has won four of five fights in the UFC, including a victory over UFC Ultimate Fighter champion Amir Sadollah. TJ Waldburger made a successful UFC debut at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 22, defeating David Mitchell by unanimous decision. Despite being added to this fight as a late replacement, Johny Hendricks will out wrestle TJ Waldburger to a victory.

Headlining the preliminary card is an important middleweight division fight as Mario Miranda (10-2-0) faces Aaron “A-Train” Simpson (7-2-0). Mario Miranda has had a poor run in the UFC thus far, suffering defeats to Gerald Harris and Damian Maia. Aaron Simpson is looking to stop a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to Chris Leben and Mark Munoz. This fight is a battle to avoid a pink slip, but it will be Aaron Simpson avoiding the pink slip on this particular night.
