UFC ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT 24 FACEBOOK CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/24/2011 8:23 PM
The UFC returns to its favorite social media website to present five exciting fights prior to the event going live on Spike TV. This card will feature two important heavyweight encounters and the return of a rising welterweight prospect. Just a reminder for you fans out there, the Facebook.com card will be at 7:30pm EST. on the UFC Facebook page.

Kicking off the action is a heavyweight division fight as Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle (10-1-0) takes on Christian Morecraft (6-1-0). Sean McCorkle has split both of his fights in the UFC, most recently losing to Stefan Struve at UFC 124 by submission. Christian Morecraft is currently winless in UFC competition, suffering a defeat to Stefan Struve at UFC 117. This fight is going to be a good slugfest and it is going to be a slugfest that Sean McCorkle will be winning.

Up next is a bantamweight division encounter as Michael “Mayday” McDonald (11-1-0) takes on Edwin “El Feroz” Figueroa (7-0-0). Michael Mayday enters the UFC after a one fight sting in the WEC, where he defeated Clint Godfrey by submission. Edwin Figueroa is not only making his UFC debut in this fight, but his North American MMA debut in this one as well. This is a good battle of two bantamweight prospects, but it is going to be a battle Michael McDonald will win by TKO.

An important welterweight battle takes place next as John “The Hitman” Hathaway (14-1-0) takes on Kris “Savage” McCray (5-2-0). John Hathaway has won three of four in the UFC, including a career making victory over Diego Sanchez. Kris McCray has lost both of his fights in the UFC, including the UFC Ultimate Fighter 11 finals to Court McGee. This will be a solid victory for John Hathaway, who is going to be putting Kris McCray on the unemployment line.

A very important heavyweight division fight happens next as Jon Madsen (7-0-0) takes on Mike Russow (13-1-0). Jon Madsen is an undefeated fighter who holds UFC victories over top MMA veterans like Mostapha Al-Turk and Gilbert Yvel. Mike Russow is best known for his come from behind victory over Todd Duffee, a loss that knocked Todd Duffee out of the UFC. These are two of the better wrestlers in the UFC heavyweight Division, but Jon Madsen will grind out a victory here.

Headlining the Facebook card is a featherweight division fight as Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres (4-2-0) takes on Mackens “Mack Da Menace” Semerzier (5-3-0). Alex Caceres is making his UFC debut in this fight, but he was a contestant on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 11. Mackens Semerzier will also be making his UFC debut in this fight, but does so on a three fight losing streak. This fight is a battle to avoid a pink slip and it will be Mackens Semerzier who will be giving Alex Caceres a pink slip.
