UFC ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT 24 TELEVISED CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/25/2011 5:42 PM
One of the most underappreciated light heavyweight fights of the year takes place on Saturday Night as Phil Davis takes on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. A pair of interesting welterweight battles will take place as well, including a former UFC Welterweight Title challenger and UFC Ultimate Fighter winner. Also, the 2010 Fight Of The Year rematch will take place, this time inside of the UFC octagon instead of a WEC cage.

Headlining this card is a light heavyweight encounter as Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis (8-0-0) takes on Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira (19-4-0). Phil Davis has been on an incredible run in the UFC, including victories over Brian Stann and Tim Boetsch. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has won two of three in the UFC, with that loss coming to UFC Ultimate Fighter champion Ryan Bader. This fight is going to be a battle of youth vs. experience and the youthful Phil Davis will be getting the win.

In the co-main event, a pair of welterweights will go to battle as Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (23-8-0) faces Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (8-3-0). Dan Hardy is coming off of a poor 2010, which saw him suffer defeats to both Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit. Anthony Johnson hasn’t fought in sixteen months, recovering from a serious knee injury after his UFC 106 fight. These two have promised to put on an exciting fight, but it will be a fight the more active Dan Hardy is going to win.

An important welterweight division fight happens next as DaMarques Johnson (12-8-0) takes on Amir Sadollah (4-2-0). DaMarques Johnson has won three of five in the UFC, most recently defeating Michael Guymon at UFC Fights For The Troops 2. Amir Sadollah is a UFC Ultimate Fighter champion, having recently defeating Peter Sobotta at UFC 122. Being a late replacement fighter will hinder DaMarques Johnson as Amir Sadollah picks up and important victory.

Kicking off the evening is a featherweight battle as Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia (15-6-1) takes on Chan Sung “The Korean Zombie” Jung (10-3-0). Leonard Garcia won the initial battle between the two at WEC 48, a fight that won 2010 Fight Of The Year honors. Chan Sung Jung will be looking to end a two fight losing skid, most recently losing to George Roop at WEC 51. Neither of these fighters has changed much since that last fight, which is why it will be two in a row for Leonard Garcia.
