Apocalypse Returns! Mission Mania 2011 - Texas Independent Wrestling League 3/26/11

I was at the Mission Mania 2011 show at the Palmer Middle School in Palmer Texas Saturday Night. It benefited a local church that has a mission outreach program.

The show started out with the President of the TIWL, Paul Michael, coming out and thanking everyone and talking up the organization, the big plans for 2011 and their new website which was mentioned so much that it is embedded in my brain www.wrestlingintexas.com. After the greeting, the All American Mad Dog came out stating that there is someone else claiming to be the Big Dog of the TIWL. He then challenged Doberman (who did not come out) to a loser eats dog food match. Michael sanctioned then stipulation in the match and ordered Doberman to compete.

After Mad Dog left, the TIWL Tag Team Champs Live Wire and Kidd Kilowatt came out with Ice X. They talked about last year’s Mission Mania where Michael and Tim Storm teamed up to beat Live Wire and Kilowatt (before they were champs). They mocked Michael for not having a match and they brought out Ice X to challenge him to a loser leaves town match. Michael upped the ante by challenging Ice X to a loser retires match. Live Wire accepted on Ice X's behalf. At this point, Tim Storm comes out...and he is with the last PCW champion and longtime tag team partner Apocalypse, who was making his return to wrestling for the first time since PCW folded. With the Dark Circle reunited, Storm and Apoc challenged Live Wire and Kilowatt to a title match and Michael booked it.

In the first match, Dr. NeMo Luv upset Dirty Craig Jericho via schoolboy in a solid back and forth match.

In a loser eats dog food match in the "Battle of the Big Dogs", the "All American" Mad Dog beat Doberman. Mad Dog gave some insane moves including an innovate one I have never seen before, the best way to describe it would be a 720 tilt-a-whirl sidewalk slam. After his defeat, Doberman tried to escape but Mad Dog caught him and forced fed him the dog food while simultaneously holding him in a camel clutch.

For the TIWL Junior Heavyweight Championship, Aski defeated Cervantes to capture the gold. This match was incredible. The high flying of Aski and the mat based wrestling of Cervantes brought the crowd to its feet. Incredible match. After the match Cervantes attacked Aski with his 6 foot long walking stick.

In a loser must retire match, Paul Michael ended the career of Ice X. Solid Match. Michael has lost about 200lbs since his appearance last year and his high impact slams echoes though the gym. After the loss, Doberman, Live Wire and kid Kilowatt attacked Ice X. Michael tried to make the save, but he got attacked for his troubles. Finally, Apocalypse, Tim Storm, NeMo Luv, Mad Dog and Aski came to make the save. After the ring was cleared of what Apoc and Storm referred to as "the Electric Company" of Live Wire and Kid Kilowatt, Michael offered to allow Ice X to stay, buy .Ice X, true to his word stated he will retire as stipulated

In the main event, Apocalypse and Tim Storm, the last (and as they would say the current) PCW Tag Team Champions challenged Kidd Kilowatt and Live Wire for their TIWL Tag Team Championship. After a hard fought battle, the winners and new TIWL Tag Team Champions, the Dark Circle.

This event was a fun time for all, about 200 people came to see the event and the wrestlers were friendly to all the fans, signing autographs and taking pictures in the ring with fans. The biggest pops were for the Jr. Heavyweight title match and the return of Apoc as well as the title changes.
