BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 41 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 4/14/2011 5:10 PM
Two champions return to the cage on Saturday Night when BFC Featherweight Champion Joe Warren and BFC Welterweight Champion Zack Makovsky compete in non-title fights. Also, the BFC Featherweight Tournament Semi-Finals take place, featuring former Elite XC star Wilson Reis. Before all of that action can take place though, the four fight preliminary card will be taking place and it is full of action.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight encounter as Brendan Tierney (6-2-0) goes into battle against Dano Moore (5-4-0). Brendan Tierney returned to professional MMA action in October 2010 after a two year absence, defeating Lyle Steffens. Dano Moore has been in a pretty bad slump in recent fights, only winning one of his last four encounters. Despite the recent losing streak, Dano Moore is a more active fighter than his opponent, which will help him get the victory.

A pair of featherweights will be competing next as Michael Parker (6-3-0) faces off with Nick Piedmont (4-1-0). Michael Parker is a longtime veteran of the Rage In The Cage promotion, where he has won four of five fights. Nick Piedmont has already won two fights in 2011, defeating the fighters known as Anthony Griego and Ruben Salazar. Despite the two fight winning streak, Nick Piedmont doesn’t have the skills to defeat the superior ground fighter in Michael Parker.

The fighters are getting lighter as bantamweights enter the cage next when Anthony Birchak (4-0-0) faces Tyler Bialecki (7-3-0). Anthony Birchak has amassed a four fight undefeated streak by defeating all four opponents by submission. Tyler Bialecki has fought the majority of his MMA career in the Desert Rage Full Contact Fighting promotion, where he won six of eight. This fight is going to be a battle of top notch ground fighters, but it will be Anthony Birchak who will be losing his undefeated streak.

Headlining the preliminary card is a heavyweight contest as Rudy Aguilar (0-1-0) faces off with Carlos Flores (4-0-0). It has been nearly two years since Rudy Aguilar competed in an MMA fight, which was a loss to Adam Madrid. Carlos Flores is an undefeated fighter with four victories, including a notable victory over UFC veteran Wade Shipp. Meaning no disrespect to Rudy Aguilar, there is no way that anybody other than his family can see him defeating Carlos Flores.
