UFC 129: ST.PIERRE VS. SHIELDS FACEBOOK CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 4/27/2011 6:38 PM
The marathon begins on Facebook this Saturday Night because every single fight on the UFC 129 card is going to be broadcasted. This card will be featuring many notable fighters, like longtime UFC veteran Jason MacDonald and WEC veteran Yves Jabouin. The action will kick off on the official UFC Facebook page at 6pm EST., just hit the “like” button to access the action.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight fight as Pablo “The Scarecrow” Garza (10-1-0) takes on Yves “Tiger” Jabouin (15-6-0). Pablo Garza is currently undefeated in UFC competition with a win over Fredson Paixao at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. Yves Jabouin had a poor run in the WEC, suffering two defeats to both Mark Hominick and Raphael Assuncao. This fight is a classic striker versus grappler encounter, with the grappler in Pablo Garza securing the victory.

Up next will be a lightweight affair as John “The Bull” Makdessi (8-0-0) will go to battle with Kyle Watson (13-6-1). John Makdessi is currently undefeated in UFC competition with a victory over Pat Audinwood at UFC 124. Kyle Watson is also undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Sako Chivitchyan at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. While John Makdessi is a talented fighter, his undefeated streak will be ending at the hands of Kyle Watson.

The next fight will take place in the middleweight division as Jason “The Athlete” MacDonald (24-14-0) takes on Ryan Jensen (15-7-0). Jason MacDonald is returning from a serious knee injury suffered at UFC 113 and hasn’t competed in nearly a year. Ryan Jensen has only won two of five in his most recent UFC run, with a notable victory of TUF contestant Jesse Forbes. While Jason MacDonald is a good fighter, the cage rust is going to cost him the fight against the veteran Ryan Jensen.

A pair of bantamweights are going to battle next as Ivan “Pride Of El Salvador” Menjivar (21-8-0) face off with Charlie Valencia (12-6-0). Ivan Menjivar will be making his UFC debut in this fight after a lone fight in the WEC, which was a loss to Brad Pickett. Charlie Valencia has had a long run in the WEC, fighting such notables as Migel Torres and Dominick Cruz. This fight is a key fight in the division and it will be a key fight that Ivan Menjivar will be winning in the end.

Headlining this card is a welterweight fight as Claude “The Prince” Patrick (13-1-0) takes on Daniel “Ninja” Roberts (12-1-0). Claude Patrick is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with victories over Ricardo Funch and James Wilks. Daniel Roberts has won three of four fights in the UFC, with a notable victory coming over longtime MMA veteran Forrest Petz. This should be an interesting battle on the ground, but it is going to be a battle that Daniel Roberts is going to win.
