Kicking off the action is a welterweight encounter as Jake “The Juggernaut†Ellenberger (23-5-0) takes on Sean Pierson (11-4-0). Jake Ellenberger has won three of four in the UFC, with notable victories over Mike Pyle and John Howard. Sean Pierson is undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Matthew Riddle at UFC 124 by unanimous decision. This is going to be an excellent battle on the ground, but it is going to be a battle that is going to be won by Jake Ellenberger.
Headlining this card is another welterweight encounter as Nate Diaz (13-6-0) goes into battle against Rory MacDonald (10-1-0). Nate Diaz has won two of three in the UFC since moving to welterweight, with a notable win over Marcus Davis. Rory MacDonald is coming off a loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 115, a fight he lost with seven seconds left in the third round. This is a fight of two up and comers in the division, but Nate Diaz is far too skilled on the ground to drop this one.
