BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 45 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/19/2011 8:00 PM
All good things must come to an end and the same hold true for Bellator’s fourth season, which concludes this Saturday Night. Two tournament finals will take place at this event in the Bellator Light Heavyweight Division and Bellator Featherweight Division. However, the preliminary card takes place first and the card features plenty of top rated local MMA talent.

Kicking off the evening is a lightweight contest as Rene Nazare (8-0-0) goes to battle with Kelvin Hackney (9-1-0). Rene Nazare is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Luiz Azeredo by TKO at Bellator 39. Kelvin Hackney enters this fight riding a four fight winning streak, with two victories coming in the Dana Pitchers Productions company. While Kelvin Hackney is a competent competitor, Rene Nazare is on the verge of becoming a breakthrough fighter and will obtain the win.

Middleweights will be stepping into the cage next as Tim Ruberg (5-0-0) faces Mike “The Crazii Cajun” Fleniken (3-3-0). Tim Ruberg is currently undefeated in Bellator, having defeated Aaron Davis by submission at Bellator 31. Mike Fleniken is winless in Bellator competition, having suffered defeats at both Bellator 23 and Bellator 30. This should be an entertaining battle on the ground and it will be a battle that Tim Ruberg is going to win.

An important welterweight battle takes place next as Nicolae “The Destroyer” Cury (4-1-0) takes on Luis “Sapo” Santos (48-6-0). Nicolae Cury is a veteran of the Art Of Fighting promotion, where three of his five professional MMA fights occurred at. Luis Santos is a well-traveled MMA fighter who has competed in the WEC and enters the fight riding a seven fight winning streak into the fight. This fight is being set up as a showcase for Luis Santos, who should be pulling out an easy victory on Saturday Night.

Headlining the preliminary card is a heavyweight contest at John Hill (3-1-0) goes to war with Shawn Jordan (9-2-0). John Hill hasn’t fought in nearly two years, but is coming off an impressive win over John Orr at a King Of The Cage event. Shawn Jordan has split both of his Bellator appearances, defeating Doug Williams and suffering a defeat to Mark Holata. The lack of cage time is going to hurt John Hill, as Shawn Jordan will be using his striking skills to get the victory.
