Kicking off the action is a middleweight affair as Jesse “Water†Bongfeldt (15-4-1) goes to battle with Chris Weidman (5-0-0). Jesse Bongfeldt made an auspicious UFC debut at UFC 124, fighting Rafael Natal to a draw at the December event. Chris Weidman made quite an impact in his UFC debut, defeating longtime veteran Alessio Sakara at UFC On Versus III. This fight should be an entertaining ground battle, which will be won by the still undefeated Chris Weidman.
Headlining this portion of the card is a key lightweight fight as Yves “Thugjitsu Master†Edwards (40-16-1) takes on Sam “Hands Of Stone†Stout (16-6-1). Yves Edwards has been on a career resurgence since returning to the UFC, defeating John Gunderson and Cody McKenzie. Sam Stout has won three of his last four in the UFC, with a notable victory coming over British fighter Paul Taylor. This fight should be nothing but a striking festival, with Yves Edwards continuing his resurgence in the UFC.
