BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 47 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/21/2011 11:27 AM
We are now at the midway point of the Bellator “Summer Series” and this card will not be disappointing the MMA fans out there. In a weekend with important MMA events from Strikeforce and Legacy, Bellator has an important opportunity here to win the weekend. The preliminary card of this event is top notch, including an appearance by a Bellator Fighting Championships veteran.

Kicking off the card is a bantamweight division affair as Syd Barnier (3-3-0) is set to take on Denis “The Bosnian Menace” Puric (3-1-0). Syd Barnier competed just a little over a month ago in the Slammer In The Hammer promotion, defeating Sajid Rizvi. It has been longer than a year since Denis Puric last competed in a MMA fight, but he has fought three times in the Iroqouis MMA promotion. Despite the long layoff from competition, Denis Puric will handily defeat Syd Barnier on Saturday Night.

A pair of lightweights will be stepping into the cage next as Daron Cruickshank (8-2-0) faces off with Sergej Juskevic (11-6-2). Daron Cruickshank enters this fight riding a two fight winning streak, plus this will be his fourth fight of 2011. Sergej Juskevic enters this fight riding a four fight winning streak and this fight will mark his North American MMA debut. This fight could determine who will move onto a potential future tournament, which Sergej Juskevic will do.

We return to the bantamweight division for the next fight as Bo “Beast” Harris (6-2-1) takes on Bryan Goldsby (13-13-0). Bo Harris enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with one win coming in the highly touted Maximum Fighting Championships. Bryan Goldsby fought three times thus far in Bellator, with only a single victory coming over Jeff Curran. Despite the huge experience advantage, Bryan Goldsby will fall victim to Bo Harris in this encounter.

Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division contest as Daniel Langbeen (3-3-0) faces Will Romero (5-3-0). Daniel Langbeen has lost three straight MMA fights and he hasn’t achieved a victory in over a full year. Will Romero also enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and one of those losses coming in Bellator. Despite both fighters entering the fight on losing skids, it will be Will Romero who ends his streak and walking away victorious.
