Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Chad “Money†Mendes (10-0-0) faces Rani Yahya (16-6-0). Chad Mendes made his UFC debut at UFC 126 by defeating Michihiro Omigawa by unanimous decision. Rani Yahya is also undefeated in UFC competition as he defeated Mike Brown by unanimous decision at UFC Fights For The Troops II. This fight should be spent mostly on the ground, but it will be Chad Mendes earning the victory and a future title shot.
Headlining this portion of the card is a light heavyweight division fight as Alexander “The Mauler†Gustafsson (11-1-0) takes on Matt “The Hammer†Hamill (10-3-0). Alexander Gustafsson has won three of four in the UFC, with his lone UFC defeat coming to Phil Davis at UFC 112. Matt Hamill is a late replacement for Vladimir Matyushenko, who pulled out of the fight with an injury. This fight is primed for an upset, but I see Matt Hamill out wrestling Alexander Gustafsson to a decision victory.
