UFC 134: SILVA VS. OKAMI FACEBOOK CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/24/2011 1:05 PM
After a very, very long absence from Brazil, the UFC returns to the land where many believe mixed martial arts were born. Even overseas in another country, the UFC finds a way to give the fans the preliminary fights on Facebook. This card features a lot of top quality Brazilian fighters and one key fight in the UFC Welterweight Division.

Kicking off the card is a featherweight division fight as Yves “Tiger” Jabouin (15-7-0) is set to battle Ian “”The Barn Owl” Loveland (14-8-0). Yves Jabouin is currently winless in UFC competition, having lost to Pablo Garza by submission at UFC 129. Ian Loveland has split both of his fights in the UFC, defeating Tyler Toner and suffering a defeat to Joseph Benavidez. This fight is a battle between a grappler and a striker, but it will be the grappler in Ian Loveland earning the victory.

We return to the featherweight division for our next fight as Felipe “Sertanejo” Arantes (13-3-0) will do battle with Yuri “Majaro” Alcantara (25-3-0). Felipe Arantes enters this fight riding a seven fight winning streak and he hasn’t lost a fight in nearly two years. Yuri Alcantara enters the fight riding an eleven fight winning streak, with his last victory coming over UFC veteran Ricardo Lamas. This fight is between two very well rounded fighters, but Yuri Alcantara is the better overall fighter and he will get the win.

Up next is a welterweight division clash as Erick “Indio” Silva (12-1-0) goes into war against Luis “Beicao” Ramos (19-6-0). Erick Silva enters the fight riding an eight fight winning streak, with most of those victories coming in the Jungle Fight promotion. Luis Ramos has already won three fights in 2011, with all three victories coming in the Watch Out Combat Show events. Erick Silva’s lack of cage time in the last year is going to hurt him here as Luis Ramos picks up another victory.

We are going back to the featherweight division for our next fight as Raphael Assuncao (16-4-0) takes on Johnny Eduardo (25-8-0). Raphael Assuncao is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered a loss to Erik Koch at UFC 128. Johnny Eduardo enters this fight riding an eleven fight winning streak, with a lot of those wins coming in the Shooto promotion. Although Raphael Assuncao is the more well-known fighter in North America, Johnny Eduardo is the better fighter and he will earn a UFC victory.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as David “Daudi” Mitchell (11-1-0) faces Paulo Thiago (13-3-0). David Mitchell is currently winless in UFC competition, suffering a defeat to Anthony Waldburger at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 22. Paul Thiago has won three of six in his current run in the UFC and enters this fight riding a two fight losing streak. Paulo Thiago could be fighting for his job in this one, which will motivate him enough to get the victory here.
