UFC ON FX 1 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 1/17/2012 4:39 PM
This Friday Night will be marking the first official UFC event on FX and it features one of the better cards the UFC will put on free TV. Headlining this card will be a pivotal battle in the UFC Lightweight Division, with potential title implications. The card will also feature a big fight in the welterweight division and a possible last opportunity for a heavyweight brawler.

Kicking off the card is a heavyweight division affair as Pat “HD” Barry (6-4-0) will compete against Christian Morecraft (7-2-0). Pat Barry has lost two straight fights heading into this battle and he could be fighting to avoid the evil pink slip. Christian Morecraft has also been having a rough run in the UFC, with his lone victory coming over Sean McCorkle. This fight is definitely a perfect choice to kick the show off with, but it will be Pat Barry picking up the victory.

Up next is a bantamweight division encounter as Mike “The Hulk” Easton (11-1-0) does battle with Jared ‘The Jackhammer” Papazian (14-6-0). Mike Easton is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Byron Bloodworth at UFC On Versus VI. Jared Papazian will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he does so riding a three fight winning streak. Being a late replacement is going to affect Jared Papazian in this one as Mike Easton picks up his second UFC victory.

The co-main event is a welterweight division contest as Duane “Bang” Ludwig (21-11-0) faces Josh “The Dentist” Neer (32-10-1). Duane Ludwig enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, including a victory over UFC Ultimate Fighter Champion Amir Sadollah. Josh Neer was successful in his UFC return at UFC On Versus VI, defeating Keith Wisniewski by TKO in the second round. The winner of this fight will be moving up in competition in the division and that fighter is going to be Josh Neer.

Headlining this card is a lightweight division fight as Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard (29-9-2) takes on Jim Miller (20-3-0). Melvin Guillard is coming off of a major career setback, which was a submission defeat to Joe Lauzon at UFC 136. Jim Miller is coming off of a setback of his own, suffering a defeat to Ben Henderson at UFC On Versus V. This fighter will determine who remains in title contention and that fighter will be Jim Miller, who will earn the decision.
