Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinal: Cody Griffin (5-2) vs. Ryan Martinez (6-1)
Round One: Fighters touch gloves to start off this heavyweight bout. A short feeling out process between the two. Leg kicks by Martinez. A body kick by Griffin. Not much action going on. Martinez stalking, Martinez with a flurry, but Griffin defends and backs off. The two men engage in a brief staring contest. Both men swing wildly, Griffin dripping a bit of blood from his left eye. More leg kicks by Martinez. Both men seem hesitant to engage as the round drags on. After a few jabs, Martinez swarms on Griffin, but Griffin pushes him off and they reset in the center of the cage.Little action as the round comes to an end. PWInsiderXTRA scores it 10-9 for Martinez.
Round Two: The fight starts with the two touching gloves. Griffin throws a low frontkick. A kick goes low on Griffin and the action breaks. Griffin takes two minutes to recover and the fighters restart. Another inside leg kick by Martinez. A few jabs and leg kicks by Martinez, but nothing is really happening. A few punches by Griffin, easily blocked by Martinez. The two men continue to try to time each other, lots of wild strikes not hitting the mark. Griffin calls Martinez on and the two exchange strikes as the action picks up. The round ends slowly with little action to speak of. PWInsiderXTRA scores this round 10-10 due to inactivity.
Round Three: Round three starts off just as the others. Leg kicks exchanged by both men. Griffin rushes in and gets tagged by Martinez. Martinez tees off on Griffin, but he pushes back as the action resets to the center of the cage. Leg kicks by Martinez keeping Griffin at a distance. The fights exchange jabs in the center and go back to inactivity. Both men look ready to pull the trigger, but neither willing to commit. A kick by Griffin is checked, as Martinez throws some leather no to avail. Griffin calls Martinez on and drops his hands. Griffin continues taunting as neither man throws anything other than leg kicks and jabs. Martinez lands a huge overhand right that sends Griffin staggering back, but doesn't capitalize on it. Leg kicks by Martinez are checked as he pushes the action back towards the cage. A few winging punches by both men, and Martinez engages in the taunting before a quick flurry between the two ends the round. PWInsiderXTRA scores this 10-9 to Martinez, giving him the fight 30-28.

Sara McMann (4-0) vs. Hitomi Akano (18-8)
Round One: The ladies take the center of the cage, a southpaw stance for "The Girl Fight Monster" Akano. Double jab my McMann, in and out. McMann gets a sloppy takedown and the fight ends up on the ground. The larger McMann in side control.Akano taking shots from McMann. McMann throwing body strikes and smothering Akano. McMann looking for a submission, but gets put back into full guard. Akano with great wrist control. Akano throws her legs up, but McMann escapes before Akano can grab an arm. The referee stands them up despite the consistent action between the two. McMann and Akano exchange high kicks. McMann ducks under a high kick and lifts and slams Akano to the mat. McMann gets mount, Akano spins out and McMann takes her back. McMann retakes the mount and throws strikes. She works for an arm triangle, but the round ends. PWInsiderXTRA scores the round 10-9 for McMann.
Round Two: McMann throws a punch and quickly slams Akano down to the mat. Delivering body punches. Akano rolls and gets guard. McMann keeps the pressure on.Akano tries for an arm, but McMann escapes. Akano once again tries for an armbar/triangle, but McMann again escapes. McMann looking to posture up as Akano throws heel kicks to her lower back and kidneys. McMann throws some punches. Yuji Shimada stands them up. McMann throws some serious power on Akano's chin, and the two reset in the center. McMann throws a high kick, a leg kick, then works again for a slam. Akano once again looks for an arm, but is not having any luck. McMann transitions to the back, but Akano rolls. McMann takes an accidental shot to the eyes, and the referee stands them up again. McMann once again slams Akano down, ending up in half guard. McMann simply smothering Akano as the round ends. PWInsiderXTRA scores this as an easy 10-9 for McMann.
Round Three: Akano throws a kick, but McMann catches and takes her down instantly. Pressing her up against the cage, McMann controlling Akano. Shots to the body by McMann. McMann postures up, but is quickly pulled back down by Akano. Akano looking again for a submission, but finding no luck. Akano keeps her legs high while peppering McMann with strikes from the bottom. McMann counters with knees to the legs of Akano. Akano looking for a triangle, but McMann pops out and drops a right hand on the face of Akano. Body shots from McMann, but the ref stands them up for the third time in as many rounds. McMann rushes in throwing straight punches, gets underhooks and slams Akano to the mat very hard. Maintaining top control, McMann throws hammerfists. Akano gets back to her feet and the two exchange strikes, but McMann quickly throws Akano back down to the mat. McMann finishes the fight on top. PWInsiderXTRA scores round three 10-9 for McMann, giving her the fight 30-27.
