It is rare for the UFC not to have an event running and the Xtreme Fighting Championships is looking to take advantage of the situation. That is why XFC 16: High Stakes is the MMA show to watch this weekend, with two UFC veterans headlining on HDNet. However, before the action begins on HDNet, there is a three fight preliminary card featuring some up and coming talent.
Kicking off the action is a middleweight division contest as Daniel “Crazy Legs†Crockett (3-0-0) battles Shane Matchette (1-2-0). Daniel Crockett will be making his XFC debut in this fight, plus this fight will mark this competitor’s first fight of 2012. Shane Matchette has competed before in the XFC promotion, but this will be his first MMA fight in nearly two years. This fight will be an excellent way to kick off the evening, but it will be Daniel Crockett remaining undefeated in the end.
Up next is a lightweight division affair as Chris Coggins (4-1-0) stands across the cage from Jay Meneghello (1-1-0). Chris Coggins enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, but he hasn’t competed in an MMA fight in well over a year. Jay Meneghello made his professional MMA debut a little over a year ago, defeating Ryan Peace by TKO in the second round. This will be a fight to see if Chris Coggins gets a chance to move up to bigger encounters and he will earn the victory to do so.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Brandon Demastes (0-0-0) takes on Scott Holtzman (0-0-0). Brandon Demastes will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does train out of the On Point Athletics gym. Scott Holtzman is also making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he has fought many times as an amateur. It is always hard to make a prediction based on two fighters in their pro debuts, but I’m going with Brandon Demastes to earn the victory.
