While there is no UFC event this coming weekend, there is one heck of a great card from the Xtreme Fighting Championships promotion. Headlining this seven fight televised card on HDNet is a lightweight battle between Drew Fickett and Jamie Varner. The fight card also features a lot of great fighters like Heather Clark, Chase Gormley, Marianna Kheyfets and others.
Kicking off the card is a welterweight division encounter as Stoney “Skuller†Hale (4-2-0) dukes it out with Dustin West (5-4-0). Stoney Hale is coming off of an appearance at the Strikeforce Challengers 13 event, defeating Gerric Hayes by split decision. Dustin West is coming off of an undefeated run in the Gameness Fighting Championships promotion, defeating Marcus Fletcher, Brandon Gaines and Jonathan Ivey. This is an excellent welterweight fight to kick off the HDNet broadcast, but it will be Stoney Hale pulling out the victory.
We move to the middleweight division for the next battle as Julio Gallegos (4-2-0) stands across the cage from Amaechi “The Infamous A.O.†Oselukwue (1-4-0). Julio Gallegos has won four of five in the XFC promotion, including a victory of UFC veteran Shane Primm at XFC 10. Amaechi Oselukwue enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak, plus he has not competed in nearly a year. This fight looks like it was set up for an Julio Gallegos victory and that is exactly what is going to happen here.
Super heavyweight fighters enter the cage next as Chase Gormley (7-4-0) will do battle with Brandon Sayles (2-0-0). Chase Gormley has only won one of his last four fights and has competed twice before in the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Brandon Sayles is currently undefeated in XFC competition, defeating Imani Lee by submission at XFC 15. This is an interesting bout to keep an eye on this Friday Night, but it will be Brandon Sayles remaining undefeated in the end.
Up next is a bantamweight division affair as Len Cook (1-0-0) will step into the XFC cage against Chris Wright (5-1-1). Len Cook made his professional MMA debut a little over four months ago, defeating Timm Kitts by submission. Chris Wright recently suffered the first loss of his professional MMA career, losing to Cornelius Godfrey by submission. This fight is going to be a huge challenge for Len Cook, as his undefeated streak will come to an end as Chris wright earns the victory.
The women’s flyweight division will be highlighted next as Heather “Hurricane†Clark (4-1-0) battles Marianna “The Crushen Russian†Kheyfets (4-0-0). Heather Clark enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak and she has not suffered a defeat in nearly two years. Marianna Kheyfets has spent the majority of her career in the XFC promotion, including a victory over Kim Couture. This fight is one of the better fights not in a major MMA promotion right now, but it will be Marianna Kheyfets remaining undefeated in the end.
The co-main event is a middleweight division clash as Mikey Gomez (12-8-0) takes on Josh Samman (8-2-0). Mikey Gomez enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with one victory taking place in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Josh Samman is coming off of a great run in the Moon Management promotion, where he defeated UFC veteran Chris Cope. This will be a potential show stealer on Friday Night, but it will be Josh Samman picking up the crucial victory.
Headlining this card is a lightweight division encounter as Drew “Night Rider†Fickett (41-16-0) faces Jamie “C-4†Varner (18-6-1). Drew Fickett enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak, but he did win the Shine Fights 2010 Lightweight Grand Prix. Jamie Varner has won two of three fights since being released from the WEC, including a victory over Strikeforce veteran Nate Jolly. This fight is probably the best lightweight not under the Zuffa banner right now, but it will be Jamie Varner getting the duke.
