After a shocking title change to kick off season six, Bellator returns to action with the beginning of the middleweight tournament. Bellator made an odd decision with the preliminary card to, in a sense, sandwich the televised card in between the preliminary card fights. This week’s preliminary card has a little bit of a wrestling connection to it as a former WWE Tough Enough contestant is in action.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division contest as Jeremy “Kamikaze†Myers (3-3-0) competes against Jason Sampson (8-1-0). Jeremy Myers enters the fight trying to end a two fight losing streak, this will also be his first MMA fight of 2012. Jason Sampson will be making his Bellator debut in this fight, but he also competed in the lone MMA Fight Pit pay-per-view. Both fighters enter the fight after losing their last fight, but it will be Jason Sampson picking up the victory.
We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Francisco Derek Campos (9-2-0) stands across the cage from Patrick “Lights Out†Cenoble (8-1-0). Francisco Derek Campos has won five of his last six fights and he has competed against current UFC fighter Diego Brandao. Patrick Cenoble is coming off of the first loss of his MMA career, which was also the first main event fight of his career. This is a really impressive fight to have on the preliminary card, but it will be Francisco Derek Campos earning the victory.
Lightweight fighters will be featured next as Derrick “D-Rod†Krantz (10-5-0) takes on Eric Scallan (10-3-0). Derrick Krantz will be making his Bellator debut in this fight, but he has fought against top notch fighters like Dustin Poirier and Rich Clementi. Eric Scallon enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with two of those victories coming in the Atlas Fights promotion. This is a battle between two equally experienced competitors, but it will be Derrick Krantz picking up the win.
We jump to the middleweight division for the next fight as Trey “That Just Happened†Houston (8-0-0) battles Jeremiah “Mississippi†Riggs (7-5-0). Trey Houston has spent the majority of his career in the Xtreme Fighting League promotion, where seven of his eight pro victories came in. Jeremiah Riggs enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, but he is best known as a competitor in the WWE Tough Enough reality show. While Jeremiah Riggs is the more well known of the two fighters, it will be Trey Houston remaining undefeated in the end.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Quaint “KO†Kempf (4-2-0) faces Josh Quayhagen (2-0-0). Quaint Kempf has won two of his last three MMA fights and he has competed in the highly respected Shark Fights promotion. Josh Quayhagen is an undefeated fighter who made his professional MMA debut at Bellator 52, defeating Cosmo Alexandre. This fight is easily the biggest test of Josh Quayhagen’s young MMA career, but it will be a test that the fighter passes.
