The final tournament begins this Friday Night as eight welterweight fighters step into the cage looking to earn a title shot. The winner of the tournament will be facing the winner of the Ben Askren/Douglas Lima title fight that takes place in season six. This tournament is filled with a bunch of Bellator veterans, international stars and even a longtime UFC veteran.
Kicking off the action is a BFC Welterweight Tournament Opening Round battle as Bryan “The Beast†Baker (16-3-0) competes against Carlos Alexandre “Indio†Pereira (33-9-0). Bryan Baker made it to the finals of the Bellator season two middleweight tournament and now makes his debut as a welterweight. Carlos Alexandre Pereira will be making his Bellator debut in this fight, but he does so riding a three fight winning streak. This could be the show stealer of Bellator 63, but it will be the debuting Carlos Alexandre Pereira pulling out the victory.
Another BFC Welterweight Tournament Opening Round fight is up next as David “The Caveman†Rickels (9-0-0) faces Jordan “Mata El†Smith (17-2-0). David Rickels is currently undefeated in Bellator competition with wins over Dylan Smith, Richard Bouphanouvong and Levi Avera. Jordan Smith enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, but he does hold a victory over UFC veteran Karo Parisyan. Being a late replacement fighter is going to hurt Jordan Smith in this fight as David Rickels pulls out the victory.
Up next is a BFC Welterweight Tournament Opening Round fight as Raul “Smash Mode†Amaya (9-0-0) takes on Ben “Killa B†Saunders (12-4-0). Raul Amaya is an undefeated fighter, who for the first time in his career, is competing outside of the Art Of Fighting promotion. Ben Saunders made it to the finals of the season five welterweight tournament before losing to Douglas Lima. This fight is easily the biggest of Raul Amaya’s career, but it will be the UFC veteran in Ben Saunders getting the duke.
Headlining the card is a BFC Welterweight Tournament Opening Round contest as Karl “Psycho†Amoussou (13-4-0) battles Chris “The Cleveland Assassin†Lozano (9-3-0). Karl Amoussou has split both of his fights in Bellator, defeating Jesus Martinez and suffering a defeat to Sam Alvey. Chris Lozano made it all the way to the semi-finals of the season five welterweight tournament before losing to Douglas Lima. This fight is an excellent way to cap off the event, but it will be Karl Amoussou moving on in the tournament.
