When there are three big MMA events in a two day period, just leave it to the UFC to cap off the action with a top notch fight card. The Facebook portion of the event goes first and it does so with six fights on tap for the social media leader. Those six fights feature a lot of up and coming talent, including a veteran light heavyweight fighter and a rising welterweight contender.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division contest as Jason “Shotgun†Young (8-5-0) squares off with Eric “Little Lee†Wisely (19-7-0). Jason Young is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered defeats to both Dustin Poirier and Michihiro Omigawa. Eric Wisely is also winless in UFC competition, losing to Charles Oliveira via the first ever calf slicer in UFC history at UFC On Fox II. This is essentially a battle to avoid the pink slip for these two, but it will be Eric Wisely doing so in the end.
Welterweight fighters will be featured next as Simeon “The Grin†Thoresen (16-2-0) stands across the cage from Besam Yousef (6-0-0). Simeon Thoresen enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, plus he holds a victory over UFC veteran John Maguire. Besam Yousef is an undefeated fighter who has fought all six of his professional MMA fights in The Zone FC promotion. This is one of two fights between top Swedish MMA prospects, but it will be Simeon Thoresen ending the undefeated streak.
We drop to the lightweight division for the next contest as Yoislandy “Cuba†Izquierdo (6-0-0) does battle with Reza “Mad Dog†Madadi (11-2-0). Yoislandy Izquierdo enters the UFC as an undefeated fighter coming off of a four fight run in the Championship Fighting Alliance. Reza Madadi enters the fight with three straight victories over UFC veterans, they are over Rich Clementi, Carlo Prater and Junie Browning. This fight could be the one to watch of all the preliminary bouts, but it will be Reza Madadi ending his opponents undefeated streak.
Middleweight competitors are up next as Francis “Limitless†Carmont (17-7-0) is set for action against Magnus “Jycken†Cedenblad (10-3-0). Francis Carmont enters the fight riding a six fight winning streak, which includes victories over UFC veterans Chris Camozzi and Jason Day. Magnus Cedenblad also has a six fight winning streak heading into this fight, with only one career fight going to a decision. This is another exciting battle between UFC newcomers, but it will be Francis Carmont picking up the victory in the end.
Up next is a light heavyweight division fight as Tom DeBlass (7-0-0) takes on Cyrille “The Snake†Diabate (17-8-0). Tom DeBlass is a late replacement fighter in this fight, but he does hold a victory over UFC veteran Sean Salmon. Cyrille Diabate has split his four fights in the UFC, defeating Luiz Cane and Steve Cantwell, while suffering defeats to Anthony Perosh and Alexander Gustafsson. Being a late replacement is going to hurt Tom DeBlass in this one as Cyrille Diabate picks up the needed victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Papy “Makembo†Abedi (8-1-0) faces James Head (7-2-0). Papy Abedi made his UFC debut in the hardest way possible, losing to Thiago Alves at UFC 138 by submission. James Head is currently winless in UFC competition, having lost to Nick Ring at UFC 131 by way of submission. This is a great way to cap off the Facebook portion of the card and it will be Papy Abedi earning the win.
