CHECK OUT…TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

By David Tees on 4/26/2012 12:16 PM

A returning feature I will be bringing to PWInsiderXtra.com is called “Check Out…”, which will feature a look at other MMA promotions not called the Ultimate Fighting Championships, Strikeforce or Bellator Fighting Championships. There are plenty of folks who are MMA fans, old and new, that only know of the major promotions and these columns will hopefully change that.

Promotion: Titan Fighting Championships

Home Base: Kansas

Broadcast Partner: HDNet

Official Website: TitanFighting.com

First Event: March 11th, 2006

Next Event: May 25th, 2012

Notable Fighters: Jay Hieron, Alan Belcher, Rob Kimmons, Bobby Voelker, LC Davis, Pat Healy, Tony Fryklund, Gerald Harris, Kyle Bradley, James Krause, Brad Imes, Michael Johnson, Bobby Lashley, Phil Baroni, Aaron Rosa, Jens Pulver, Jared Rosholt, Sara McMann, Tonya Evinger, Jamie Varner, Eddie Sanchez, Brett Rogers & Jorge Santiago.

Based primarily out of Kansas City, Kansas…the Titan Fighting Championships is quickly becoming the place to be if you’re a fan of MMA. Over the six years the promotion has been in existence, it has been home to some of the top UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator and international fighters. Even better is that fans of this promotion can also see the action from Titan on HDnet, which has exclusive broadcasting rights to the promotion (along with Legacy Fighting Championships, Shark Fights, Etc.).

Although they mainly run out of the state of Kansas, Titan Fighting Championships has also been known to run occasionally in both Oklahoma and Missouri. They have pulled a major coup for their next event, Titan Fighting Championships 22, because UFC veteran Anthony Johnson will be competing at the event. Most MMA fans would recall that Anthony Johnson was released from the UFC after UFC 142 because he badly failed to make weight for a fight against Vitor Belfort, which he ended up losing.

Female MMA fans would also be encouraged to know that the promotion is also starting to feature the female fighters as well. Back at Titan Fighting Championships 19, female warriors Sara McMann and Tonya Evinger went to battle in the promotions initial female MMA fight. On that night, it was Sara McMann who kept her undefeated streak alive with a unanimous decision victory.

Whether or not you are there live in person or checking out the action live on HDnet, Titan Fighting Championships is definitely worth checking out.
