UFC ON FOX III FUEL TV PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/3/2012 6:14 PM

Now with two fights airing on Facebook, UFC fans who will be checking out the full UFC On Fox III card will then move to Fuel TV for the next portion of the event. The Fuel TV portion of the card will be featuring six total fights that will span three hours of television time. This portion of the card features several UFC Ultimate Fighter alumni and a key lightweight division fight.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez (7-3-0) competes against Pablo “The Scarecrow” Garza (11-2-0). Dennis Bermudez enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak, but he did make it to the semi-finals of the Shine Fights Lightweight tournament in 2010. Pablo Garza has won two of three in UFC competition, most notably defeating Yves Jabouin by submission at UFC 129. Pablo Garza is a featherweight fighter on the rise and he will be defeating Dennis Bermudez on Saturday Night.

We move up to the lightweight division as Danny “Last Call” Castillo (13-4-0) does battle with John Cholish (8-1-0). Danny Castillo has won three of four in the UFC, including a victory over UFC Ultimate Fighter 2 champion Joe Stevenson in his UFC debut. John Cholish is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Mitch Clarke at UFC 140. This fight is going to be an interesting one to check out, but it will be Danny Castillo keeping his momentum going with a victory.

Flyweight fighters will be stepping into the cage next as Louis “Goodnight” Gaudinot (5-2-0) is up against John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker (19-5-0). Louis Gaudinot is currently winless in UFC competition, having lost to Johnny Bedford at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale. John Lineker enters the fight riding a thirteen fight winning streak, which has lasted over two years. While Louis Gaudinot is the more well-known fighter to UFC fans, it will be the lesser known John Lineker getting the duke.

A pair of welterweights will be up next as John “The Hitman” Hathaway (15-1-0) battles Pascal “Panzer” Kraus (10-0-0). John Hathaway has won five of six in the UFC, including a victory over UFC Ultimate Fighter 1 champion Diego Sanchez. Pascal Kraus is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Mark Scanlon by decision at UFC 122. This could be the most important fight of the card in the long term, but it will be John Hathaway ending the undefeated streak.

Up next is a flyweight division fight as John “The Magician” Dodson (12-5-0) squares off with Tim Elliot (8-2-0). John Dodson was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14, defeating TJ Dillashaw by knockout in the opening round. Tim Elliot enters the fight riding an eight fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Jens Pulver. This fight looks like it was set up to give John Dodson a showcase fight and it will be a fight that he wins.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson (13-2-0) faces Michael “The Menace” Johnson (10-6-0). Tony Ferguson is the UFC Ultimate Fighter 13 champion and he has won three straight fights thus far in the UFC. Michael Johnson has split his four fights in the UFC, most notably defeating Shane Roller by decision at UFC On Fox II. Being a late replacement is going to hurt Michael Johnson in this one as Tony Ferguson pulls out the victory.
