For the first time in many years, the UFC puts on a live event on a Tuesday Night and what an event this one shapes up to be. There are twelve fights total on Tuesday Night, with six airing on Fuel TV and the other six airing on Facebook. The fights airing on Facebook feature an important lightweight division fight and a key fight in the bantamweight division.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division fight as Francisco “Cisco†Rivera (7-2-0) competes against Alex Soto (6-1-0). Francisco Rivera returns to the UFC after a yearlong absence, in which he won two fights in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion. Alex Soto is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered a defeat to Michael McDonald at UFC 139. Being a late replacement fighter is going to hurt Francisco Rivera in this one as Alex Soto picks up the victory.
We stay in the bantamweight division for the next fight as Jeff “The Big Frog†Curran (33-14-0) does battle with Johnny Eduardo (25-9-0). Jeff Curran returned to the UFC after a seven year absence in a losing effort to Scott Jorgesen at UFC 137. Johnny Eduardo is currently winless in UFC competition, having suffered a defeat to Raphael Assuncao at UFC 134. This fight should mostly be contested on the ground and it will be Johnny Eduardo getting the victory in the end.
The lightweight division will be featured next as Rafael Dos Anjos (15-6-0) stands across the octagon from Kamal “Prince Of Persia†Shalorus (7-2-0). Rafael Dos Ajos has won four of six heading into this fight, most notably defeating George Sotiropoulos at UFC 132. Kamal Shalorus is currently winless in UFC competition, suffering defeats to both Jim Miller and Khabib Nurmagomedov. This is a fight to see who will remain relevant in the lightweight division and that fighter will be Rafael Dos Anjos.
Welterweight fighters will be featured next as TJ Grant (17-5-0) is in action against Carlo “Neo†Prater (30-10-0). TJ Grant has rotated wins and losses in UFC competition, last defeating Shane Roller at UFC On Versus VI. Carlo Prater enters this fight riding a five fight winning streak, which includes victories over Erick Silva and Cameron Dollar. This fight will be an interesting one to keep an eye on, but it will be Carlo Prater getting the duke in this one.
Up next is a middleweight division as Brad Tavares (7-1-0) is scheduled for action against Dongi “The Ox†Yang (10-2-0). Brad Tavares has split both of his UFC fights, defeating Phil Baroni and suffering a defeat to Aaron Simpson. Dongi Yang has only won one of three in UFC competition, with that lone victory coming over Rob Kimmons at UFC On Versus III. This is a battle to avoid the pink slip for Dongi Yang, but he may be getting one as Brad Tavares earns the victory here.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Marcus “The Prospect†LeVesseur (21-5-0) faces Cody “A Kid†McKenzie (12-2-0). Marcus LeVesseur has won three straight heading into this one, with two wins coming in the Seconds Out MMA promotion. Cody McKenzie has lost two straight headlining into this one, with his last victory coming over Aaron Wilkinson at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. This is a do or die fight for Cody McKenzie, but he will make good and win this fight to defeat the UFC newcomer.
