In just two short weeks, the sixth season off Bellator will come to a close, but there are still two events left before that happens. As usual, there is a lot of preliminary card action that will take place before the action goes live on MTV2. This week’s preliminary card features many Bellator veterans, including some past tournament participants.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Josh Quayhagen (3-0-0) competes against Cliff Wright (6-2-0). Josh Quayhagen is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated both Cosmo Alexandre and Brenton Taylor. Cliff Wright enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, last defeating UFC Ultimate Fighter contestant Dakota Cochrane. This will be the fight where Josh Quayhagen’s undefeated streak comes to an end as Cliff Wright gets the win.
We move up to the light heavyweight division for the next fight as Josh Burns (6-5-0) does battle with Richard “Rare Breed†Hale (18-4-1). Josh Burns has lost two straight in Bellator competition, with those losses coming to Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos. Richard Hale made it all the way to the season four light heavyweight tournament finals before losing to Christian M’Pumbu. This fight almost looks like a warm up fight for Richard Hale, but he will be the winner either way you look at it.
Another lightweight fight is up next as Emanuel “EJ†Brooks (6-0-0) is in action against Kalvin “Hot Boy†Hackney (11-2-0). Emanuel Brooks has won three straight in Bellator competition, most notably defeating Mikhail Malyutin at Bellator 65. Kalvin Hackney is currently winless in Bellator competition, having lost to Rene Nazare by submission at Bellator 45. While Kalvin Hackney is a top competitor, it will be Emanuel Brooks remaining undefeated when it’s all said and done.
Welterweight fighters will be featured next as Andrey “Spartan†Koreshkov (9-0-0) battles Derrick “D-Rock†Krantz (11-5-0). Andrey Koreshkov is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Tiawan Howard at Bellator 63. Derrick Krantz is also undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Eric Scallan at Bellator 63 by submission. One fighters undefeated run in Bellator will come to an end and that fighter will be Derrick Krantz as Andrey Koreshkov gets the victory.
Up next is a heavyweight division fight as Mark Holata (11-3-0) takes on Abe “Hurricane†Wagner (10-5-0). Mark Holata has won two of three in Bellator competition, most notably defeating UFC veteran Shawn Jordan at Bellator 31. Abe Wagner is currently winless in Bellator competition, but he does hold a victory over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia. This fight could be the best of the preliminary card, but it will be Mark Holata earning the victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Booker Arthur (2-1-0) faces Shanon Slack (3-0-0). Booker Arthur is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Javone Duhon at Bellator 36. Shanon Slack has been undefeated thus far in his MMA career, but this fight will mark his first fight of 2012. This will be an interesting fight to check out, but it will be Shanon Slack earning the victory in this one.
