With three major MMA events this week, with Bellator and the UFC being the other two, Titan Fighting Championships kicks off the weekend with a great card. Please note that the preliminary card is full of amateur fights, so only the pro fight main card will be previewed here. This six fight card features the MMA return of Anthony Johnson and a Strikeforce veteran is in action as well.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Mirsad Bektic (3-0-0) is in action against Willie Mack (0-2-0). Mirsad Bektic is currently undefeated in Titan competition, having defeated Cody Carrillo by submission at Titan 21. Willie Mack is currently winless in his professional MMA career, last defeating in October 2011 at C3 Fights. This fight looks like it was set up to keep an undefeated streak alive and that is exactly what’s going to happen as Mirsad Bektic will win.
A pair of middleweights will compete next as Rudy “Bad News†Bears (13-10-0) competes against Nick “Kansas City Head Case†Nolte (5-3-0). Rudy Bears enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak, with two of those losses coming in Bellator action. Nick Nolte enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he once fought UFC veteran Phil Baroni at Titan 19. It seems that Rudy Bears is on the tail end of his career and it will be Nick Nolte picking up the victory in this one.
Bantamweights will be stepping into the cage next as Nick “Garfield†Mamalis (23-8-0) does battle with Fabio Mello (10-6-0). Nick Mamalis has won two of his last three fights, but this will mark his first professional MMA fight of 2012. Fabio Mello enters this fight riding a six fight winning streak, including a victory over longtime MMA veteran Charles Bennett. This will definitely be an interesting battle to check out, but it will be Fabio Mello getting the duke in the end.
Another bantamweight division fight is next as Jose Vega (9-5-0) takes on Andrews “The Beast†Whitney (7-1-0). Jose Vega is coming off of a four fight run in Bellator, where he won two fights and lost two fights in the promotion. Andrew Whitney is entering the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with two victories coming in the Slay Marketing promotion. This will Jose Vega’s first non-Bellator fight in a while and it will be an unsuccessful one as Andrew Whitney gets the victory.
Up next is a featherweight division fight as LC Davis (16-5-0) stands across the cage from Bill Kamery (10-2-0). LC Davis enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not achieved a professional MMA victory in over two years. Bill Kamery has won five of his last six MMA fights, with his last two fights happening in the Midwest Cage Championships. The losing streak will be coming to an end as LC Davis out wrestles Bill Kamery on route to a victory here.
Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Anthony “Rumble†Johnson (10-4-0) faces David Branch (10-2-0). Anthony Johnson will be competing from the first time since being released from the UFC following issues making weight for UFC 142. David Branch has won two straight fights since being released from the UFC, including a victory in the Shark Fights promotion. This will be a fitting fight to end the event and it will be Anthony Johnson looking like his old self in victory.
