SHOFIGHT 20 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 6/13/2012 9:01 AM

This event marks a historic evening for the Shofight promotion as this will be their first event featuring nothing but professional fights. The main card will take place this Saturday, will air via taped pay-per-view sometime in July features several top MMA fighters. Even the events preliminary card, which is being previewed here, features a host of Strikeforce and other MMA veterans.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division fight as Jason Ignacek (0-0-0) is in action against Gary Michaels (0-1-0). Jason Ignacek will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he has fought many times as an amateur. Gary Michaels returns to MMA action almost two years after his MMA debut, which was a loss to Victor Henry at a Respect In The Cage event. There is very little knowledge to make a choice in this fight, but it will be Jason Ignacek starting off his career with a win.

A lightweight division fight takes place next as Chris “Pritty Boy” Barnes (7-19-0) competes against Jesse Zeugin (7-3-0). Chris Barnes enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak and this fight will mark his fourth fight of 2012. Jesse Zeugin is coming off of a loss to Joe Ellenberger, who is the brother of UFC veteran Jake Ellenberger. While Chris Barnes is the more experienced fight, Jesse Zeugin is clearly on the upside of his career and he will get the win here.

Flyweights will step into the cage next as Robert Sabaruddin (2-1-0) does battle with Jacob “Straight Jacket” Ritchie (8-8-0). Robert Sabaruddin is coming off of a two fight run in the TUFFA MMA promotion, where he split both of his fights. Jacob Ritchie enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and just fought two months ago in the Midwest Ultimate Cage Fights promotion. This will definitely be an interesting fight to check out and it will be Jacob Ritchie earning the victory.

Up next is a middleweight division fight as Lucas Lopes (20-13-0) steps up to fight “Smilin’” Sam Alvey (18-4-0). Lucas Lopes recently ended a five fight losing streak when he defeated Eddie Larrea at a Shamrock Promotions event. Sam Alvey has won three of his last four, which includes a victory over Daniel Almeida at Wreck MMA: Road To Glory. This fight will be the show stealer of the preliminary card and it will be Sam Alvey picking up the big victory.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Travis “Iron Chin” Coyle (9-5-0) faces Karen Darabedyan (9-4-0). Travis Coyle is coming off of the biggest fight of his career, which was a loss to UFC veteran Marcus Davis at Global Fight League 13. Karen Darabedyan enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in nearly two years. This is essentially a battle to see who can remain relevant in MMA and that fighter will be Karen Darabedyan.
