The third time is the charm as the current incarnation of the Ultimate Fighting Championships is making its third trip to the country of Brazil. The card now goes from Facebook to FX, which will be airing UFC programming for the second time in two nights. This portion of the preliminary card features four fights that all feature cast members from the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil.
Kicking off the action is a middleweight division fight as Leonardo Mafra “Macarrao†Texeira (5-0-0) competes against Thiago De Oliveira Perpetuo (8-1-0). Leonardo Mafra Texeira is an undefeated fighter who has finished three of his five career fights in the opening round. Thiago De Oliveira Perpetuo enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with two victories coming in the Jungle Fight promotion. This fight, like the others, features a lot of hungry fighters and it will be Thiago De Oliveira Perpetuo ending his opponent’s undefeated streak.
Featherweights step into the cage next as John “Macapa†Teixeira Da Conceicao (13-0-0) battles Hugo “Wolverine†Vianna (5-0-0). John Teixeira Da Conceicao enters the fight riding a nine fight winning streak, last competing professionally in December 2011. Hugo Vianna is an undefeated fighter who has spent the majority of his career in the Win Fight And Entertainment promotion. This is an interesting battle of the undefeated fighters, but it will be John Teixeira Da Conceicao remaining undefeated in the end.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Francisco “Massaranduba†Drinaldo (10-1-0) takes on Delson “Pe De Chumbo†Heleno (23-6-0). Francisco Drinaldo enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with his lone loss coming to UFC veteran Yuri Alcantara. Delson Heleno was a veteran of the International Fight League, where he fought UFC veterans Brad Blackburn, Jay Hieron, Jake Ellenberger, Antonio McKee and Gideon Ray. This fight could be the show stealer of the preliminary card, but it will be Delson Heleno getting the duke here.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Rodrigo Damm (9-5-0) faces Anistavo “Gasparzinho†Medeiros De Figueiredo (15-7-0). Rodrigo Damm once challenged for the Strikeforce Lightweight title, losing to Gilbert Melendez in April 2009. Anistavo Medeiros De Figueiredo got back in the win column this past September, defeating Orleans Smith at Mr. Cage 6. This is a great choice to headline this portion of the card, but Rodrigo Damm’s big show experience helps him get the win here.
