While the UFC Middleweight Title grudge match is the centerpiece of this event, there is a heck of a preliminary card on FX. The card features several key fights in the lightweight division, with UFC Ultimate Fighter alumni in action. Also, a WEC veteran will be seeing action and a rising middleweight contender will step into the octagon.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as John “The Natural†Alessio (34-15-0) is in action against Shane Roller (10-6-0). John Alessio is currently winless in his second UFC run, dropping a fight to Mark Bocek by decision at UFC 145. Shane Roller has won three of four in the UFC, with that lone victory coming over Thiago Tavares at UFC ON Versus III. This is a must win situation for both in this fight, but it will be Shane Roller picking up the victory and keeping his job safe.
We move to the middleweight division as Riki Fukuda (18-5-0) will do battle with Constantinos Philippou (10-2-0). Riki Fukuda has split both of his fights in the UFC, defeating Steve Cantwell and suffering a defeat to Nick Ring. Constantinos Philippou enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Court McGee at UFC On FX II. This should be a battle between two excellent strikers, but it will be Constantinos Philippou getting the duke here.
Up next is a lightweight division fight as Fabricio “Morango†Camoes (14-6-0) takes on Melvin “The Young Assassin†Guillard (29-10-0). Fabricio Camoes is currently undefeated in his second UFC run, having defeated Tommy Hayden at UFC On FX I. Melvin Guillard enters this fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to Joe Lauzon and Jim Miller. This is a must win fight for Melvin Guillard and he will be winning that fight to keep his job safe in the UFC for now.
Headlining this card is a lightweight division fight as Khabib “The Eagle†Nurmagomedov (17-0-0) faces Gleison Tibau (25-7-0). Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Kamal Shalorus at UFC On FX I. Gleison Tibau enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, most notably defeating Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 139. This is a big time fight in the lightweight division that is flying under the radar, but it will be Khabib Nurmagomedov remaining undefeated in the end.
