After a short breather, the Ultimate Fighting Championships returns to action this Wednesday Night with a stacked card. The main event could have potential middleweight title implications as Mark Munoz collides with Chris Weidman. Also, a middleweight fighter drops to the welterweight division and a key battle takes place in the lightweight division.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Rafael Dos Anjos (12-6-0) does battle with Anthony “The Assassin†Njokuani (15-6-0). Rafael Dos Anjos has rotated wins and losses in his last five fights, last defeating Kamal Shalorus at UFC On Fuel TV III. Anthony Njokuani has also rotated wins and losses in his UFC run, defeating both Andre Winner and John Makdessi. This is a key lightweight division fight that has been under the radar lately, but it will be Rafael Dos Anjos picking up the win.
Bantamweight action will happen next as TJ Dillashaw (5-1-0) will be squaring off with Vaughan Lee (12-7-0). TJ Dillashaw has split both of his fights in the UFC, defeating Walel Watson and suffering a defeat to John Dodson. Vaughan Lee is coming off of the biggest win of his MMA career, which came over Norifumi Yamamoto at UFC 144. Vaughan Lee is coming off of the biggest win of his career and that momentum will carry over as he gets the duke in this one.
A pair of middleweights will lock up next as Karlos “The Terminator†Vemola (9-2-0) competes against Francis “Limitless†Carmont (18-7-0). Karlos Vemola has competed in three different weight classes in the UFC, which were as a heavyweight, light heavyweight and middleweight. Francis Carmont is currently undefeated in UFC competition with victories over Chris Camozzi and Magnus Cedenblad. This fight is easily the biggest test of Francis Carmont’s MMA career, but it will be a test that the fighter passes.
Welterweights step into the cage next as Aaron “A-Train†Simpson (11-3-0) battles Kenny Robertson (11-1-0). Aaron Simpson will be making his welterweight debut in this fight after winning six of nine as a middleweight in the UFC. Kenny Robertson is currently winless in UFC competition, having lost to Mike Pierce by TKO at UFC 126. Aaron Simpson was originally set to face Jon Fitch in this fight, but either way the fighter will achieve victory.
Up next is a light heavyweight division fight as James Te Huna (14-5-0) takes on Joey “The Mexicutioner†Beltran (14-7-0). James Te Huna has won three of four in UFC competition, most notably defeating Igor Pokrajac at UFC 110. Joey Beltran returns to the UFC after getting released earlier in the year, he has defeated Anton Talamantes in between runs. This fight should be nothing short of a top notch striking battle, but it will be James Te Huna earning the victory here.
Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine†Munoz (12-2-0) faces “All American†Chris Weidman (8-0-0). Mark Munoz enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, last defeating Chris Leben at UFC 138. Chris Weidman is coming off of the biggest victory of his MMA career, which came over Damian Maia at UFC On Fox II. The winner of this could potentially earn a middleweight title shot and that fighter will be Chris Weidman.
