LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 12 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/12/2012 3:43 PM

AXS TV will get its first live MMA event since the change over from HDNet when Legacy Fighting Championships 12 goes live. The card will be headlined by two of the best flyweight fighters in the world today, competing to become the Legacy FC Flyweight Champion. Also, a Cage Warriors champion competes and a Bellator veteran will be seeing some in cage action.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division affair as Terry Acker (4-0-0) will see action against Alan Pure Osso” Nascimento (5-0-0). Terry Acker is coming off of a two fight stint in the King Of The Cage promotion, defeating Anthony Kellen and Turrell Galloway. Alan Nascimento is another undefeated fighter who has only had one career fight go past the opening round. This will be an interesting battle of the undefeated, but it will be Terry Acker remaining undefeated in the end.

Lightweight fighters will be in action next as Nick Gonzales (2-0-0) competes against Rey “The Truth” Trujillo (12-8-0). Nick Gonzales will be competing outside of the Gladiator Challenge for the first time in his career at Legacy Fighting Championships 12. Rey Trujillo has won four of his last five entering this fight, with one of those victories happening at Legacy FC 10. There is just way too big of an experience edge for Rey Trujillo in this fight and that experience will get him a victory.

A pair of welterweights hit the cage next as Artenas “Machine Gun” Young (8-4-0) is up against Nigel Ligon (4-0-0). Artenas Young has won three of his last four fights, with three of those fights happening in the Shark Fights promotion. Nigel Ligon is an undefeated fighter who has already competed in Legacy FC, defeating Patrick Hutton at Legacy FC 9. This will be a thoroughly entertaining contest and it will be Artenas Young ending his opponent’s undefeated streak.

Heavyweight fighters will be featured next as DJ “Da Protégé” Linderman (12-3-0) will battle Dale Mitchell (5-4-0). DJ Linderman is coming off of the biggest victory over his career when he defeated Mike Hayes for the Cage Warriors Heavyweight Championship. Dale Mitchell enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with three of those victories coming in the Immortal Kombat Fighting promotion. DJ Linderman is on a heck of a roll right now and he will ride that wave of momentum to defeat Dale Mitchell.

Middleweight fighters will be in competition as Robert Drysdale (3-0-0) battles Isaac “Ike” Villanueva (7-6-0). Robert Drysdale is an undefeated fighter that has primarily competed in the American Fighting Championships, where he defeated UFC veteran Mike Nickels. Isaac Villanueva enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with one of those losses happening at Legacy FC 8. Robert Drysdale is a well-respected jiu-jitsu competitor and he will use that knowledge to defeat Isaac Villanueva.

Up next is a welterweight division fight as Romario “Junior Killer” Da Silva (19-9-0) faces Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron (22-5-0). Romario Da Silva is a late replacement in this fight, but he does hold a victory over Bellator veteran Jaime Jara. Jay Hieron will be competing for the first time since leaving Bellator following a loss to Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren. Being a late replacement is going to hurt Romario Da Silva in this fight as Jay Hieron gets the duke here.

Headlining this card is a Legacy FC Flyweight Title decision fight as Will Campuzano (10-4-0) takes on Chad “Robo” Robichaux (14-2-0). Will Campuzano has won two straight since getting released from the UFC, which happened in early 2011. Chad Robichaux recently ended a two fight losing streak at Legacy FC 11 when he defeated UFC veteran Joseph Sandoval. This could be one of the better flyweight fights not happening in the UFC right now, but it will be Chad Robichaux claiming the gold.
