Women’s MMA is on the rise in North America and if Invicta FC I proved anything, that is that the rise will be continuing. After a successful first event a few months back, Invicta FC returns with a top notch line up for their sophomore effort. The preliminary card, which will stream live and free on InvictaFC.com, features a lot of fighters making their professional debuts.
Kicking off the action is an atomweight division fight as Jessica Phillipus (0-0-0) competes against “Lightning†Liz McCarthy (0-0-0). Jessica Phillipus will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but did win seven of eight as an amateur. Liz McCarthy will also be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but did go undefeated as an amateur. These are two female competitors that spent a lot of time in the amateur circuit, but it will be Liz McCarthy picking up the victory.
A pair of flyweights will be competing next as Jocelyn “Lights Out†Lybarger (0-0-0) is in action against Cheryl Chan (0-0-0). Jocelyn Lybarger won one of her last three as an amateur, but she will now be making her professional MMA debut. Cheryl Chan had won four straight as an amateur heading into this fight, with two wins coming in the AX Fights promotion. Cheryl Chan is on the bigger role heading into this fight than her opponent, which is why she will be getting the victory.
We move up to the bantamweight division for the next fight as Jessamyn “The Gun†Duke (0-0-0) battles Suzie Montero (1-0-0). Jessamyn Duke competed once as an amateur in the up and coming Resurrection Fighting Alliance promotion, defeating Elizabeth Phillips. Suzie Montero made her professional MMA debut nearly a year ago, defeating Kim Couture by unanimous decision. Suzie Montero is riding a big wave of momentum heading into this fight and she will ride that wave to get another win here.
Up next is another bantamweight division fight as Sarah “Cheesecake†Moras (2-0-0) faces Raquel “Rocky†Pennington (1-1-0). Sarah Moras is an undefeated fighter who holds a pair of victories over both Helena Martin and Julianna Pena. Raquel Pennington will be looking to rebound from the first loss of her professional MMA career, which came to Tori Adams this past June. This fight could be the show stealer of the preliminary card and it will be Sarah Moras remaining undefeated in the end.
Headlining this portion of the card is an atomweight division fight as Angelica “South Valley’s Own†Chavez (4-1-0) takes on Nicaldi “The Night Queen†Rivera-Calanoc (7-6-0). Angelica Chavez will be looking to rebound from her first professional MMA loss, which came to Diana Real at the lone MMA Fight Pit pay-per-view. Nicaldi Rivera-Calanoc competed in the first Invicta FC event, suffering a defeat to Amy Davis via submission. These are two great up and coming fighters, but it will be Angelica Chavez picking up the victory and rebounding from her loss.
