This weekend there is no UFC, Strikeforce or Bellator events…instead the women of mixed martial arts get center stage. That is because Invicta FC II will be taking place, which will be streaming live on InvictaFC.com this Saturday Night at 7pm EST. The main card of the event features some of the best female fighters around, along with some Strikeforce, Bellator and international veterans.
Kicking off the action is a strawweight division fight as Carla Esparza (6-2-0) sees action against Sarah “White Tiger†Schneider (6-5-0). Carla Esparza has won three of her last four, most notably defeating Felice Herrig at Xtreme Fighting Championships 15. Sarah Schneider is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Sally Krumdiack at Invicta FC I. These are two fighters who will be looking to get the fight to the ground, but it will be Carla Esparza picking up the victory.
Featherweight action will be happening next as Julia “The Jewel†Budd (2-2-0) competes against Elina Nilsson (2-2-0). This will be Julia Budd’s first professional fight outside of Strikeforce, where she defeated both Shana Nelson and Germaine Da Randamie. Elina Nilsson enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both victories coming in The Zone FC promotion. Although there records are similar, it is Julia Budd that has fought the bigger competition and she will be using that experience to get the duke in this one.
A pair of flyweights will see cage time next as Barb “Little Warrior†Honchak (5-2-0) is in action against Bethany Marshall (4-0-0). Barb Honchak is coming off of the biggest victory of her career, which was a victory over Roxanne Modaferi at a Breast Cancer Beatdown event. Bethany Marshall is an undefeated fighter who has seen action in the M-1 Challenge and Cagefest Xtreme promotions. These are two women who are well versed in the ground game, but Barb Honchak is riding a huge wave of momentum and she will continues to ride the wave as she gets the win.
Bantamweight fighters will be featured next as Sarah “The Monster†D’Alelio (5-2-0) will do battle with Vanessa Porto (14-4-0). Sarah D’Alelio is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Vanessa Mariscal at Invicta FC I. Vanessa Porto has won four of her last five fights, with that lone loss coming to Strikeforce veteran Amanda Nunes. The experience advantage of Vanessa Porto will be the edge in this as she picks up a fifteenth career victory.
More bantamweight action takes place next as Amanda “Lioness Of The Ring†Nunes (6-2-0) stands across the cage from Raquel “Rocky†Pa’Aluhi (2-2-0). Amanda Nunes competes for the first time in nearly a year as her last fight was a loss to Alexis Davis at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitanov. Raquel Pa’Aluhi has rotated wins and losses thus far in her career, her last fight was a loss to Sara McMann. Amanda Nunes is just too dangerous of a striker and she will run over Raquel Paâ€Aluhi on route to a victory.
Strawweight fighters will be highlighted next as Ayaka Hamasaki (7-0-0) is battling Lacey “The Ladie†Schuckman (7-4-0). Ayaka Hamasaki is an undefeated fighter who is currently holding the Jewels 115lb. title, with six of her seven career fights also happening in Jewels. Lacey Shickman has won three of her last five, most notably defeating Diana Real at a Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz event. Ayaka Hamasaki is considered to be the next big thing in Japanese female MMA and she will be picking up the win in her North American MMA debut.
Another bantamweight division fight is happening as Liz “Girl-Rilla†Carmouche (6-2-0) faces Kaitlin Young (7-5-0). Liz Carmouche is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, having defeated Ashleigh Curry at Invicta FC I. Kaitlin Young competed in the first Invicta Fc event as well, fighting Leslie Smith to a majority draw after three rounds of action. This should be the best striking battle of the entire event, but it will be Liz Carmouche getting the duke.
Up next is a bantamweight division fight as Alexis Davis (11-5-0) takes on Hitomi “Girlfight Monster†Akano (18-9-0). Alexis Davis recently suffered a defeat to Sarah Kaufman at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey, a fight that was considered a title eliminator. Hitomi Akano is a legend of the Japanese MMA scene and lost in the finals of the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Top Contenders Tournament to Miesha Tate. This will be the fight that turns Alexis Davis into a big name in female MMA as she defeats the legendary Hitomi Akano.
Headlining this card is a bantamweight division fight as Shayna “The Queen Of Spades†Baszler (14-6-0) battles Sara McMann (5-0-0). Shayna Baszler enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes a victory over Alexis Davis. Sara McMann is an undefeated fighter who holds victories over both Hitomi Akano and Tonya Evinger thus far in her career. This is a battle between two of the best wrestlers in female MMA, however it will be Sara McMann out wrestling her foe to remain undefeated.
