XFC 19: CHARLOTTE SHOWDOWN PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/31/2012 10:40 PM

While it will be the Ultimate Fighting Championships dominating on Saturday Night, it will be the Xtreme Fighting Championships taking center stage on Friday Night. The main card, which airs on AXS TV, will feature a UFC veteran in the headliner and other top fighters in action. The XFC 19 preliminary card is full of fighters looking to make an impact early in their professional careers.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Brian “Cocky” Karmolinski (0-5-0) competes against Carlos Vivas (0-0-0). Brian Karmolinski will be looking to achieve his first professional victory, with four of his five losses coming by submission. Carlos Vivas will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did win five of nine as an amateur. Usually it is the more experienced fighter who would win an encounter like this, but it will be Carlos Vivas ruining another fight for Brian Karmolinski.

Middleweights will be seeing action next as Zachary Klouse (4-1-0) will be in action against Tony Scarlett (0-0-0). Zachary Klouse will be looking to rebound from the first loss of his professional career, which came to Aaron Johnson at KO Kings V. Tony Scarlett will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but did win one of three as an amateur. This is a bad way to make a pro debut if your Tony Scarlett, because it will be Zachary Klouse steamrolling over him in this one.

Up next is a lightweight division fight as Joey “El Dingo Loco” Carroll (5-6-0) battles Jeff Tharington (2-4-0). Joey Carroll has won two of his last four professional fights, with those victories coming over Jake Pruitt and James Marino. Jeff Tharington has only won one of his last four, with that lone victory coming over Brian Mullins at a Rings Of Dreams event. These are two fighters looking to resurrect their MMA careers and it will be Joey Carroll doing so on Friday Night.

Headlining this portion of the card is a middleweight division fight as Johnny “Buck Nasty” Buck (9-8-0) faces Ricky Rainey (3-0-0). Johnny Buck has won three of his last five heading into this fight, with one of his losses coming top UFC veteran Luigi Fioravanti. Ricky Rainey is an undefeated fighter who has achieved two of his three victories in the Wild Bills Fight Night promotion. This fight will easily be the biggest test of Ricky Rainey’s career and it will be a test that the fighter passes.
