The second annual Bellator “Summer Series†will be coming to an end this Friday Night with two separate tournaments coming to an end. However, before two new top contenders can be crowned, there is a six fight preliminary card with top MMA prospects. This month’s preliminary card also features several Bellator veterans looking to move up to bigger fights within the promotion.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Chris Coggins (6-2-0) does battle with Zach Underwood (9-4-0). Chris Coggins has won four of five heading into Friday Night, with his lone loss coming to Nick Newell. Zach Underwood has spent some time in the Strikeforce promotion, where he defeated Hunter Worsham at Strikeforce: Nashville. These two have fought before with Chris Coggins getting the victory and the same thing will be happening the second time.
Bantamweight fighters will be featured next as Jay Black (0-1-0) competes against Brian “The Law†Hall (3-1-0). Jay Black is currently winless in his professional MMA career, with his lone fight being a loss to Jimmy Van Horn in February 2011. Brian Hall enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and he has competed once in the Strikeforce promotion. Barring an amazing upset, it will be Brian Hall steamrolling through Jay Black to get his fourth straight.
Middleweights will be in the cage next as Andy Uhrich (7-3-0) will be competing against Joe “Mongo†Williams (6-0-0). Andy Uhrich has won four of his last five MMA fights, which includes a victory over Dustin West at Strikeforce: Nashville. Joe Williams is an undefeated fighter who has primarily competed in the Respect In The cage promotion. Andy Uhrich has more “big stage†fight experience and he will use that to end the undefeated streak of Joe Williams.
Another middleweight fight is up next as Amaechi “The Infamous AO†Oselukwue (3-6-0) battles Kelvin “The Mama’s Boy†Tiller (4-1-0). Amaechi Oselukwue has only won one of his last six, with that lone victory coming over Gerardo Julio Gallegos. Kelvin Tiller is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated both Dan Spohn and Jeremiah Riggs. How the “Infamous AO†is competing in Bellator is beyond me, but either way it will be Kelvin Tiller picking up the win.
Up next is a heavyweight division scrap as Brian Albin (8-8-0) will be standing across the cage from Jacob Noe (7-1-0). Brian Albin has only won one of his last four, with one of those three losses coming to UFC veteran Houston Alexander. Jacob Noe enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, which includes a single appearance in the Strikeforce promotion. Jacob Noe is on a pretty good roll at the moment and he will continue the momentum with a victory on Friday Night.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Cosmo “Good Boy†Alexandre (2-1-0) faces Harry Johnson (6-7-0). Cosmo Alexander enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with all of his professional fights happening in Bellator. Harry Johnson has won two of his last three, which includes a victory over the highly touted Nate Jolly. Cosmo Alexander is a top prospect in the eyes of Bellator officials and he will prove them right with a third straight victory.
