LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 14 PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/12/2012 10:35 AM

The highly touted Legacy Fighting Championships returns this weekend with both an interim title fight and the promotional debut of Antonio Banuelos. However, before the action can kick off live on AXS TV, there is a five fight preliminary card that will happen first. This events preliminary card features a lot of great up and coming talent based out of the Texas region.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division fight as Jermaine Anugwom (0-1-0) competes against Charles Reed (3-1-0). Jermaine Anugwom made his professional MMA debut a little over a year ago, suffering a defeat to Larry Crowe. Charles Reed is returning to the cage after a three year layoff, last suffering a defeat to Chad Cook at Urban Rumble Championships 3. Both fighters are coming off of long layoffs, but Charles Reed is the more experienced fighter and that will carry him to victory.

Welterweight competitors will be entering the cage next as Kaleb Cummins (0-0-0) does battle with Patrick Greene (0-2-0). Kaleb Cummins will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but did win three of four as an amateur. Patrick Greene returns to action after a yearlong layoff, which came after losses to Mark Garcia and John Malbrough. Despite making his pro MMA debut, Kaleb Cummins has been the more active fighter and he will make a successful professional debut.

A pair of middleweights will be seeing action next as Terrance Ferguson (1-1-0) stands across the cage from Patrick Hutton (3-4-0). Terrance Ferguson is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated Drew Raticheck in November 2010. Patrick Hutton enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak and the majority of his fights have come in Legacy FC. Despite the losing record, Patrick Hutton has fought some top competitors and he will move his record to .500 in this one with a victory.

Up next is a light heavyweight division contest as Yonny Osuna (2-1-0) will be taking on Chris Reed (0-0-0). Yonny Osuna has spent the majority of his career in the Immortal Kombat Fighting promotion, winning twice there. Chris Reed will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did go undefeated as an amateur. While Chris Reed was undefeated as an amateur, he will start off his pro career with a loss as Yonny Osuna gets the duke.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Charles Ontiveros (1-0-0) battles Ryan Spann (0-0-0). Charles Ontiveros made his professional MMA debut at Legacy FC 12, defeating Mark Garcia by TKO. Ryan Spann will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, having won three of four as an amateur. These are two young fighters who could have big MMA futures, but it will be Charles Ontiveros remaining undefeated in the end.
