TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 25 AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/18/2012 6:12 PM

While the big event will be the UFC’s long awaited return to pay-per-view, the Titan Fighting Championships kicks off the action on Friday Night. Headlining this card is a battle between UFC and Strikeforce veterans as Drew McFedries battles Zak Cummings. Also on the card will be five other fights featuring plenty of up and coming talent looking to make an impact in MMA.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Ray “Gator” Grindstaff (4-2-0) competes against Alptekin “Alp” Ozkilic (5-1-0). Ray Grindstaff enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes three victories in the Fight Me MMA promotion. Alptekin Ozkilic will be looking to rebound from his first career defeat, which came at the hands of Chico Camus. This is a must win fight for both fighters and for different reasons, but it will be Ray Grindstaff keeping his winning streak alive.

Lightweights will enter the cage next as Zach “The Altar Boy” Freeman (6-0-0) does battle with Thomas “The Young Lion” Gifford (5-0-0). Zach Freeman is an undefeated fighter who has finished all but one opponent in the fights opening round. Thomas Gifford is also undefeated and has spent the majority of his career in the Cagemasters MMA promotion. This could potentially be the most important fight on the card and it will be Zach Freeman remaining undefeated in the end.

Another featherweight battle will happen next as Mirsad Bektic (4-0-0) is in action against Kevin “The Kremlin” Croom (4-3-0). Mirsad Bektic is an undefeated fighter who currently holds Titan FC victories over both Cody Carrillo and Willie Mack. Kevin Croom is currently winless in Titan FC competition, having suffered a defeat to Ramiro Hernandez at Titan FC 21. This is easily the biggest challenge of Mirsad Bektic’s career and it will be a challenge that the fighter passes.

We move to the middleweight division for the next battle as Rodney “Jake” Collier (5-1-0) faces Dustin Jacoby (8-2-0). Rodney Collier enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both victories happening in the Cage Championships promotion. Dustin Jacoby has been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a UFC On Fox II loss to Chris Camozzi. Dustin Jacoby is looking for a return trip to the UFC and he may get one after a victory over Rodney Collier.

Up next is a featherweight division fight as Ramiro “Junior” Hernandez (11-4-0) takes on Sean Soriano (6-0-0). Ramiro Hernandez has split both of his Titan FC fights, defeating Kevin Croom and having suffered a defeat to Michael Johnson. Sean Soriano is an undefeated fighter who has already competed in six separate MMA promotions thus far in his career. Sean Soriano will see his undefeated streak come to an end on Friday Night at the hands of Ramiro Hernandez.

Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Zak Cummings (15-3-0) battles Drew “The Massacre” McFedries (10-6-0). Zak Cummings enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both victories coming in the Slay Marketing promotion. Drew McFedries has been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Tomasz Drwal at UFC 103. Drew McFedries one weakness in Zak Cummings biggest strength and that is the ground game, which is why Zak Cummings will get the victory.
