The long awaited return to pay-per-view for the UFC occurs this weekend with two different divisional titles on the line. Michael Bisping and Brian Stann will also be battling it out for a potential UFC Middleweight Title opportunity in 2013. Also, Matt Hamill returns from retirement and two featherweights compete for a potential title shot.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Charles “Do Bronx†Oliveira (16-2-0) is in action against Cub Swanson (17-5-0). Charles Oliveira has been undefeated as a featherweight in the UFC, having defeated Eric Wisely and Jonathan Brookins. Cub Swanson enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, having defeated both George Roop and Ross Pearson. The winner of this fight may be in line for a potential title shot and that fighter getting the shot will be Cub Swanson.
We move to the light heavyweight division for the next fight as Matt “The Hammer†Hamill (10-4-0) competes against Roger “The Hulk†Hollett (13-3-0). Matt Hamill returns to action after a self-imposed retirement, which came after a loss to Alexander Gustafsson. Roger Hollett will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did appear once in the Bellator Fighting Championships. This will be a hard comeback fight to win for Matt Hamill, but he will find a way to pull out the return victory.
Middleweights will step into the cage next as Michael “The Count†Bisping (22-4-0) battles “All American†Brian Stann (12-4-0). Michael Bisping has won four of his last five in the UFC, most notably defeating Jason Miller at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale. Brian Stann competes on a pay-per-view for the first time in nearly a year, with his last appearance being a loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 136. The winner of this fight may be the first to challenge champion Anderson Silva next year and that fighter will be Michael Bisping.
Up next in the UFC Flyweight Title Tournament Finals as Joseph Benavidez (16-2-0) faces Demetrious “Mighty Mouse†Johnson (15-2-0). Joseph Benavidez punched his ticket to the tournament finals when he defeated Yasuhiro Urushitani at UFC On FX II. Demetrious Johnson earned himself an opportunity to become champion when he defeated Ian McCall at UFC On FX III. This fight will easily be the fastest paced one of the evening and it will be Joseph Benavidez winning the gold.
Headlining this event is a UFC Light Heavyweight Title Fight as Jon “Bones†Jones (16-1-0) defends against Vitor “The Phenom†Belfort (21-9-0). Jon Jones will be defending the gold for the fourth time, having already defended it against Lyoto Machida, Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans. Vitor Belfort will be competing as a light heavyweight in the UFC for the first time since UFC 51, when he lost a decision to Tito Ortiz. Barring a major upset of epic proportions taking place, Jon Jones will dominate the fight on route to holding onto his title.
